Girls Soccer Notebook: Brownsboro’s Zoey Hinton takes weekly honor

Brownsboro’s Zoey Hinton has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Girls Soccer Player of the Week honors for games played Jan. 27-Feb. 1.
The junior midfielder had a big week, netting 10 goals and dishing out 10 assists in wins over Van and Grand Saline.
In a 14-1 win over Van, Hinton had four goals and seven assists.
In a 14-6 victory against Grand Saline, Hinton had six goals and three assists.
In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):
Tyler Legacy goalkeeper Aisha Touray had shutouts against Longview and North Forney. Freshman Bryleigh Gamble had three goals in the two games. Brianna Garcia had two goals. Lily Beckham had two goals and three assists.
Whitehouse’s Ella Fishback has six goals and two assists in district play.
Chapel Hill sophomore center mid Rubi Hill had a goal in each of the last two games against Athens and Cumberland Academy after coming back from an injury.
Bishop Gorman sophomore goalkeeper Abigail McDonald had five saves against Dallas Christian.
Brownsboro freshman Paige Whiddon had 18 goals and three assists in wins over Van and Grand Saline.
Henderson wing/center back Anna Kate Mansinger had a goal and three assists.
Bullard sophomore Maddie Carlile returned from injury, playing her first game since early December, and had five goals an assist against Grand Saline.

In the Lethal Soccer State Rankings, Tyler Legacy is No. 29 in Class 6A; Jacksonville No. 32 in Class 5A; and Bullard No. 12, Pine Tree No. 24, Henderson No. 34 and Palestine No. 37 Class 4A.
East Texas teams ranked in the Texas Girls Coaches Association rankings are Jacksonville No. 13 in 5A; and Gladewater No. 5, Bullard No. 12 and Kilgore No. 23 in 4A.
