Lady Hawks win seventh straight district title; Chapel Hill wins first district crown since 1995

HAWKINS — The Hawkins Lady Hawks, ranked No. 1 by the Texas Girls Coaches Association and No. 7 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, claimed their seventh straight district title with a 59-29 District 21-2A win over Harleton on Tuesday.
Taetum Smith paced Hawkins with 22 points, eight rebounds, six steals and six assists. Alaya Scoggins added 12 points, Jentri Evans seven points and five rebounds, Alana Gipson five points, seven rebounds and five steals, Londyn Wilson and Haylee Skipworth four points apiece, Karsyn Johnson three and Addyson Turrentine two.
CHAPEL HILL 56, CUMBERLAND ACADEMY 24
The Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs clinched their first district championship since 1995 with a 56-24 victory over Cumberland Academy.
Freshman Rylee Seele had 11 points, four rebounds and two steals.
Necie Johnson and R’Nyah Tomlinson each had 8 points. Johnson also had 10 rebounds and seven steals, and Tominson had five rebounds and three steals.
Ayana McGill Gardner had 7 points, six rebounds and five steals. Lorena Taylor Fuentes had 7 points, four rebounds and five steals. Aryssa Cooper, Ja’Leyah Davis and Dinya Griffin all had 4 points. Cooper added five rebounds and seven steals. Griffin had six rebounds, and Davis grabbed five rebounds. Ra’Niyah Suell scored 2 points, and Tobi Adams had 1 point.
Chapel Hill plays at Gilmer on Friday. Cumberland visits Carthage on Friday.
BROWNSBORO 50, KEMP 22
KEMP — The Brownsboro Bearettes moved to 19-11 overall and 6-5 in district play with a 50-22 win over Kemp.
Chyann Stidham had 12 points to pace Brownsboro. Riley Smith had nine, Natalee Smith eight, Emma Scott seven, Tiykeah McKenzie six, Sadie Piper and Ava Johnson three apiece and Bradie Cooper two.
BULLARD 55, CENTER 54
BULLARD — Bullard outscored Center 23-13 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 55-54 victory on Tuesday night.
Coming off of a 40-point performance, Lila Robertson put in 28 points.
Emalee Neuhaus scored 13 points. Aariyah Campbell had 10 points. Lanna Kidd hit a 3-pointer, and Allison Edwards made a free throw.
Bullard (19-11, 6-2) is in a tie for second place with Palestine. The Lady Panthers will host Palestine at 6:15 p.m. Friday.
WINNSBORO 42, MARTIN’S MILL 37
BEN WHEELER — In a battle of state-ranked teams, Winnsboro outscored Martin’s Mill 27-14 in the second half to take the 42-37 win.
Winnsboro took its first lead of the contest with 1:04 remaining in regulation.
Winnsboro is ranked No. 3 in Class 3A, and Martin’s Mill is No. 1 in Class 2A.
Payton Green led Winnsboro with 12 points. Hadlee Brown scored 11 points, and Parker Green added 10 points.
BISHOP GORMAN 48, DALLAS CHRISTIAN 40
Bishop Gorman’s Lady Crusaders captured the TAPPS 4A District 3 championship on Tuesday with a 48-40 win over Dallas Christian.
It’s the second consecutive district title for Gorman.
Gianna Mahfood led the way with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Amelia Meads had 10 points, four rebounds and seven steals. Teresa Hall had 6 points and six rebounds, and Molly Madsen added 5 points and five rebounds.
LONGVIEW 70, ROCKWALL-HEATH 49
LONGVIEW — At Lobo Coliseum, Jailiyah Rockmore tossed in 24 points, and nine Lady Lobos got into the scoring column as Longview coasted to a 70-49 District 10-6A win over Rockwall-Heath.
Trinity Huey added 10 points for Longview, which trailed 14-12 after one quarter, but outscored Heath 40-24 over the next two quarters to take control. Markayla Haynes added nine points, Maya Ward seven, Kaydence Porter and Bethany Baltes six apiece, Terri Sparkman four and Daniella Baeza and Charae Bell two apiece.
Baeza had eight rebounds, Rockmore six and Sparkman five. Ward led with six assists, and Rockmore chipped in with four.
HENDERSON 56, GILMER 45
HENDERSON — Led by Anya Jackson’s double-double, the Henderson Lady Lions earned a 56-45 District 16-4A win over the Gilmer Lady Buckeyes on Tuesday.
Jackson finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and three steals for Henderson, which trailed 24-18 at halftime but rallied in the final 16 minutes.
Kyeisha Clater finished with 10 points and three steals for the Lady Lions. Kayounie Alexander added nine points and two steals, Danita Gonzalez seven points and four steals, Kenedii Hogg six points, seven rebounds and five steals, Kyla Tyeskey four points and five rebounds and Rhena Derrett two points.
PITTSBURG 40, PLEASANT GROVE 22
PITTSBURG — Randieunna Jeffery and Gina Mackey combined for 26 points, and the Pittsburg Lady Pirates rolled to a 40-22 District 14-4A win over Pleasant Grove on Tuesday.
Jeffery finished with 14 points, Mackey 12, Aubrey Chalmers five, Nataly Gonzalez three and Camryn Mackey, Jakyra Fletcher and Vivianne Marquez two each.
Pittsburg (24-6, 5-3) led 13-6 after one quarter and 23-14 at halftime.
TATUM 76, GLADEWATER 36
TATUM — Alecia Halton led four Lady Eagles into double figures with 19 points, and No. 24 ranked Tatum (TGCA) coasted to a 76-36 District 16-3A win over Gladewater.
Halton added three assists, two rebounds and two steals for Tatum, now 20-6 overall and 10-0 in district play. Aundrea Bradley added a triple-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 11 steals, nine assists and four blocks. Kamdyn Scott had a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, six steals, five blocks and three assists. Patience Price chipped in with 10 points, two assists, four rebounds, five steals and three blocks, Rhianna Harris eight points, 15 rebounds, two assists and three steals, Kaleigh Hooker six points and four assists, Addyson Saunders two points and two rebounds, Saniya Cotton two rebounds and Alayah Creer two points and five rebounds.
TROUP 57, WEST RUSK 37
TROUP — ZaQuirah Jordan scored 19 points, Jakeira Davis and Qhenja Jordan combined for 26 and the Troup Lady Tigers used big first and third quarters to earn a 57-37 District 16-3A win over the West Rusk Lady Raiders.
Davis finished with 14 points and Qhenja Jordan 12 for Troup, which led 21-10 after one quarter and 31-17 at halftime before outscoring WR 20-2 in the third. Hannah Cearley had five points, Paisley Skinner four and Kayla Manlick three.
Troup improves to 23-6 overall and 9-2 in district play with the win.
HARMONY 44, MPCH 30
MOUNT PLEASANT — Evie Helpenstill led a balanced Harmony attack with 13 points, and the Lady Eagles earned a 44-30 win over Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill in District 13-3A action.
Triniti Mauk and Rendi Seahorn added 10 points apiece for Harmony, which led 12-4 after one quarter and 22-12 at the half. Mally Davidson chipped in with three points, and Kally Wade added two for Harmony.
Neeley Grimes and Brooklynn Buchanan had eight points apiece in the loss for MPCH. Keora Hawkins added six, Kayda White five and Layla Adler three.
NEW DIANA 61, DAINGERFIELD 32
DIANA — The New Diana Lady Eagles built a seven-point halftime lead and stretched it to 13 heading to the final quarter on the way to a 61-32 District 13-3A win over Daingerfield.
Starrmia Dixon led the way for New Diana with 19 points and three steals. Jolie Ballard added 18 points, 11 steals and five rebounds, Sawyer Stapleton 10 points and five rebounds, Taryn Reece nine points, eight rebounds and four steals and Bailey Tennimon five points, seven rebounds and four steals.
JEFFERSON 45, HUGHES SPRINGS 38
JEFFERSON — Jordyn Davidson and Janaa Goynes combined for 28 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and nine steals to lead the Jefferson Lady Bulldogs to a 45-38 District 13-3A win over Hughes Springs.
Davidson finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals, and Goynes added 13 points, six rebounds and four steals. Stormi McNeil had seven points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks, Keinysa Wallace five points, eight rebounds and three steals, Jazmyne Luster three points and three rebounds, Destiny Kelly two points and Kaliyah Whitaker four rebounds and four steals.
UNION GROVE 51, BIG SANDY 16
UNION GROVE — The Union Grove Lady Lions got 17 points from Mallorie Cannon and 12 from Taylor Campbell on the way to a 51-16 District 21-2A win over Big Sandy.
Nico Carloni added nine points for Union Grove, which led 13-0 after one quarter and 27-2 at halftime. Jamie Webb and Keira Taylor chipped in with six points apiece, and Danica Vestal rounded out the scoring with two points.
AVINGER 53, BLOOMBURG 21
AVINGER — In a District 20-A battle, Avinger (No. 24 TABC, No. 17 TGCA) placed four players in double figures on the way to a 53-21 win over Bloomburg.
Jordyn Dowell led the way for the Lady Indians (22-4, 6-1) with 16 points, and LaNyiah Williams, Abby Alexander and Haylee Downs all scored 10. Charlene Kress rounded out the scoring with seven points.
