Anthony Smith’s double double of 20 points and 14 rebounds helped the No. 25 Chapel Hill Bulldogs to a 91-49 win over Cumberland Academy on Tuesday in a District 16-4A basketball game at The Castle in Tyler.



The win moved the Bulldogs to 25-5 overall and 9-1 in district. The Knights fell to 9-17 and 4-6.

Smith also had three blocks.

Other contributors for Chapel Hill were: Trevor Brooks (19 points, 6 3-pointers), Ryder Steele (10 points, 2 3-pointers), Marquis Collins (8 points), Isiah Mayfield (8 points, 9 rebounds), Jordyn Bradshaw (6 points), Jeremy Harper (6 points, 2 3-pointers), Jorden Ford (5 points, 8 steals), Dee Brisbon (3 points), Malik Gee (3 points) and Braylon Allen (3 points, 1 3-pointer).

BROWNSBORO 73, KEMP 69

KEMP — Mann Scott hit for 33 points to help the Brownsboro Bears to a 73-69 victory over the Kemp Yellowjackets on Tuesday in a District 15-4A basketball game.

Scott had seven 3-pointers as the Bears improved to 13-14 overall and 4-5 in district. Kemp fell to 11-19 and 2-6.

Keaton Delaney (15 points) and Lane Shaw (10) were also in double figures for Brownsboro.

Also scoring for the Bears were Gabe Hendricks (7), Peyton Brockway (6) and Jacob Fulgham (2).

Josiah Young led the Yellowjackets with 19 points.

Others scoring for Kemp were Jose Morales (14), Aiden Fitzhugh (14), Justin McCool (11), Kaysen Stevenson (6) and Daltyn Irvin (5).

Hitting 3-pointers were Morales (2) and Irvin (1).

The Bears won the JV (40-39) and Frosh (36-25) games.

Brownsboro plays host to Henderson Country rival Athens at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Kemp visits Canton on Friday.

LINDALE 58, CANTON 42

LINDALE — Three Lindale Eagles (Davis Carnathan, Heath Miller and Ty MCoy) scored in double figures in a 58-42 win over the Canton Eagles on Tuesday in a District 15-4A basketball game.

Carnathan led with 15 points with Miller and McCoy hitting 12 points each.

Also scoring for Lindale were Evan Cockrell (8), Reed Carnathan (5), Landon Buck (5) and David Lindig (1).

Hitting 3-pointers were Miller (2), McCoy (1), R. Carnathan (1) and D. Carnathan (1).

Kaden Smith led Canton with 17 points. He was followed by Broady Lewis (7), Ethan Lewis (6), Colton Bell (6), Cason French (5) and Mason Huson (1).

Canton (14-13, 4-5) plays host to Kemp on Friday, while Lindale (12-16, 4-5) visits Mabank.

BROOK HILL 47, BRIGHTER HORIZONS 35

BULLARD — Roy Rudzinskas led the Guard with 14 points as Brook Hill scored a 47-35 win over Garland Bright Horizons on Tuesday in a TAPPS 5A District 2 basketball game at Herrington Gymnasium.

Brook Hill improved to 24-4 overall and 5-1 in district. The Stars fall to 9-11 and 3-3.

Others scoring for the Guard were Majus Afanasjev (9), Beck Langemeier (9), Luke McNeel (7), Jio Orrico (6) and Zac Ryle (2).

Afanasjev hit three 3-pointers. Langemeier had two threes with one from Orrico.

The Stars were led by Umar Oduro (12) and Mohammed Salen (11).

Brook Hill plays host to Dallas Bishop Dunne at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Bullard.

BULLARD 68, CENTER 57

BULLARD — Layne Alexander put in 28 points as Bullard took a 68-57 victory over Center.

Alexander made seven 3-pointers in the contest.

The Panthers led 21-15 after the first quarter. The game was tied at 34 at halftime, and Bullard led 52-48 after three quarters.

Tyler Lamberth scored 12 points. Other scorers for Bullard were Caden Cummings 9; Cade Craig 8; Campbell Pawlak 6; Luke Alexander 3; and Drake Thigpen 2.

TJ Belin led Center with 15 points. Tim Johnson had 14 points, five rebounds and five steals. JaKevin Robinson had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Caleb Mosley had 8 points and seven rebounds. Jimmarion Smith had 6 points and 15 rebounds.

Bullard (20-8) is now all alone in first place in District 17-4A at 5-1. Center (14-8) and Hudson (14-15) are both 4-2. Bullard will go to Division I in the Class 4A playoffs.

Bullard will host Palestine on Friday.

PINE TREE 53, SPRING HILL 19

LONGVIEW — At the Pirate Center, Darron Pair scored 10 points to go along with three steals and five rebounds as Pine Tree knocked off crosstown rival Spring Hill 53-19 in District 16-4A action.

Ashton Valentine added six points, two assists and two steals for the Pirates, and Trey Nafrady chipped in with six points, four assists and two steals. Colton Croft, Trent Fowler, Eli Murray, Jaeden Williams and Ashton Valentine all added six points, Kalil Deckard five and Jordan Taylor two.

Spring Hill was led by John Harris and Bridge Martin with four points apiece. Cole Jackson, Jackson Bergman and Bryan Seale all added three points, and Hudson Bartell finished with two.

TATUM 120, GLADEWATER 48

TATUM — JaCorie Bradley and Luke Sigler both scored 27 points, and the No. 2 ranked Tatum Eagles rolled to a 120-48 District 16-3A win over the Gladewater Bears on Tuesday.

Jordan Chambers had 19 points for Tatum. Cooper Whiteus added 18, Cayden Tatum 16, Nalayus Boyd eight, Kenneton Harrison two and Quincy Davis one.

ARP 71, WHITE OAK 63

WHITE OAK — The Arp Tigers outscored White Oak 13-5 in overtime to earn a 71-63 win in District 16-3A action.

White Oak (8-20, 2-7) outscored the Tigers 16-8 in the fourth to rally and force overtime.

Scotty Breitenberg had 15 points and six rebounds and Campbell Sutton finished with 14 points and five rebounds in the loss for White Oak. Brayden Bratcher had eight points, Tysen McClain six points, Keenan Jalomo six points and five rebounds, Cal Jester and Brady Prazak five points apiece and Andrew Rector four points.

TROUP 62, WEST RUSK 31

TROUP — The Troup Tigers outscored West Rusk 36-12 to break open a close game on the way to a 62-31 District 16-3A win.

Caden Graves scored 14 points and Carter Graves, Carson Davenport and Braxton Barton all had nine for Troup, which led 26-19 at halftime. Bryce McElroy had eight points, Tre Anderson six, Logan Chambers five and Keenan Foster and Michael Burns one each.

Marcus Castillo finished with 16 points in the loss for West Rusk. Kemontrae McGregor had six, Max Carrillo five and Tucker Heathco four.

UNION GROVE 73, BIG SANDY 70

UNION GROVE — The Union Grove Lions rallied from 23 points down to earn a 73-70 District 21-2A win over Big Sandy on Tuesday.

Big Sandy led 14-10 and then went on a 9-0 run as Union Grove trailed 38-18 at the half.

Jace Roberts scored 21 points and collected 16 rebounds for Union Grove, and Hudson Whitman dropped in a team-leading 28 points. Jesse Fulmer had 10 points for the Lions, Morgan Mayhan five, Cason Cowan four, Wrigley Roberts three and Kayden Day two. Mayhan also had 10 rebounds, and Cowan yanked down six to go along with two steals.
