Girls Basketball Notebook: Bullard’s Lila Robertson takes weekly honor

Bullard’s Lila Robertson has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Girls Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played Jan. 20-25.

Robertson, a sophomore, averaged 30.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in wins over Rusk and Hudson.



In the 49-47 win over Rusk, Robertson had 20 points, seven rebounds, one block and one steal.

Robertson followed that up with 40 points, 15 rebounds, two blocks and two steals to lead the Lady Panthers to a 57-55 victory over Hudson in double overtime.

Tyler’s Bralyah Miller averaged 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in wins over Lufkin and Whitehouse.

Grace Community junior Paige Gilmore averaged 15.0 points in two games. She had 19 points, six rebounds, three steals and three blocks against Austin Hyde Park. In four games back after returning from a knee injury, Gilmore is averaging 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 3.0 blocks.

Rusk’s Jakaiyah Jenkins averaged 16.0 points, 20.0 rebounds and three blocks per game. She had 20 points, 21 rebounds and three blocks against Palestine.

Brownsboro’s Tiykeah McKenzie averaged 10.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 block in wins over Van and Lindale.

East Texas girls teams ranked in the TABC rankings are Tyler Legacy (27-4) No. 19 in Class 6A; Tyler (28-5) No. 14 in 5A; Canton (24-5) No. 8 and Mabank (24-6) No. 19 in 4A; Winnsboro (28-3) No. 3, Hooks (26-5) No. 11, Malakoff (26-4) No. 15 and Rains (26-4) No. 16 in 3A; Martin’s Mill (27-1) No. 1, Chireno (27-3) No. 4, Hawkins (28-1) No. 7 and Lovelady (23-6) No. 15 in 2A; Broaddus (26-4) No. 4, Brookeland (27-4) No. 10 and Avinger (21-3) No. 24 in Class 1A; Brook Hill (28-6) No. 2 in TAPPS 5A; Longview Christian Heritage (18-8) No. 6 in TAPPS 2A; and Longview St. Mary’s (11-9) No. 10 in TAPPS 1A.
