The excitement is huge for the upcoming Bass Pro Shops headed to Tyler.

The City of Tyler says Bass Pro has agreed to create 90 new permanent jobs with an average salary of $45,000. And the search for people to have those jobs is on.

On Feb. 19 and 20, the Bass Pro Shops Tyler will be hosting a hiring event at the Holiday Inn Conference Center, located at 5701 S. Broadway Ave. in Tyler. The event will go from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

News of a Bass Pro Shop coming to Tyler was confirmed last July. The business will be located at the former RVs by Camping World, located at 151 Market Square Blvd., according to a permit filing.

The Tyler City Council later approved a partnership with Bass Pro Outdoor World to boost the economy. The agreements gives a sales tax rebate for the business as long as they meet $22 million in sales during their first year and a 2% growth in sales annually for seven years. That rebate incentive will be capped at $1.5 million over seven years, the city said.

The city of Tyler has also agreed to give a $1.7 million investment to build Bass Pro Way, previously planned to be Settler’s Landing Drive, connecting South Broadway to Cumberland Village and Centennial Drive.
