Girls Basketball Notebook: Canton’s Allison Rickman takes weekly honor

Canton’s Allison Rickman has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Girls Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played Jan. 13-18.
Rickman, a University of North Texas signee, had 20 points, 14 rebounds, four steals and four blocks as the Canton Eaglettes took a 56-28 win over Brownsboro.
Canton is 22-5 overall and 7-0 in district. The Eaglettes are ranked No. 8 in Class 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):
Tyler Legacy’s Senoj Jones averaged 19.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks as the Lady Raiders went 2-0 with wins over Rockwall-Heath and Forney.
Bullard’s Lila Robertson averaged 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks as the Lady Panthers split with Palestine and Madisonville. Robertson hit a game-winning three with 15 seconds left against Palestine.
Brook Hill’s Indeya Williams averaged 19.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 3.0 steals and 4.0 assists per game in wins over Hyde Park and Grace Community, posting a double-double against Hyde Park. Savannah Onley averaged 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds, scoring 22 points against Hyde Park. Remy Tonroy averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 steals and 3.0 assists, and she scored 28 points with six 3-pointers in the win over Grace.
Athens’ Alizjah Davis averaged 21.5 points and 5.0 rebounds against Mabank and Van. Davis had 20 points, three rebounds and three steals against Mabank and 23 points and seven rebounds against Van.
East Texas girls teams ranked in the TABC rankings are Tyler (26-5) No. 15 in 5A; Canton (22-5) No. 8 and Mabank (24-5) No. 15 in 4A; Winnsboro (27-3) No. 3, Malakoff (25-3) No. 6, Rains (26-3) No. 10 and Hooks (24-5) No. 13 in 3A; Martin’s Mill (25-1) No. 1, Chireno (25-3) No. 4, Hawkins (27-1) No. 7 and Lovelady (22-6) No. 18 in 2A; Broaddus (24-4) No. 4, Brookeland (25-4) No. 10 and Avinger (17-3) No. 24 in Class 1A; Brook Hill (27-5) No. 3 in TAPPS 5A; Longview Christian Heritage (16-8) No. 6 and Longview Christian (10-2) No. 10 in TAPPS 2A; and Longview St. Mary’s (11-7) No. 8 in TAPPS 1A.
