Girls Basketball: Lady Hawks stay unbeaten in district

HAWKINS — Taetum Smith recorded a 29-point, 11-assist double-double to help the Hawkins Lady Hawks to a 56-18 win over McLeod on Friday in a District 21-2A girls basketball game.



The Lady Hawks improved to 8-0 in district play and 20-1 on the season.

Smith also added five rebounds and two assists. Karsyn Johnson recorded a career-high 13 points. Johnson added two steals. Smith and Johnson also had 3-pointers.

Other contributors for Hawkins: Jentri Evans (3 points, 6 steals, rebounds, 2 assists); Londyn Wilson (3 points); Haylee Skipworth (3 points, 5 rebounds); Addy Turrentine (2 points, 2 steals); Alana Gipson (2 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, 3 assists); and Abby McQueen (1 point).

ROCKWALL 37, LONGVIEW 34

ROCKWALL — In a tight District 10-6A contest, the fourth quarter proved to be the difference as Rockwall earned a 37-34 win over the Longview Lady Lobos.

Rockwall trailed 29-26 before outscoring the Lady Lobos 11-5 in the final frame.

Jailiyah Rockmore scored 12 points and added three rebounds in the loss for Longview. Paris Simpson and Terri Sparkman had six points apiece, Trinity Huey five, Charae Bell and Kaydence Porter two each and Daniella Barza one.

Simpson also had five rebounds and four assists.

HENDERSON 44,

PINE TREE 30

HENDERSON — Anya Jackson led a balanced Lady Lion scoring attack with 13 points, and Henderson used a big third quarter to take control in a 44-30 District 16-4A win over the Pine Tree Lady Pirates.

Jackson also had five rebounds and two steals for Henderson, which outscored the Lady Pirates 14-2 in the third quarter.

Kyla Tyeskey and Kenedii Hogg added eight points apiece for Henderson, with Tyeskey also recording eight rebounds and five steals and Hogg adding four rebounds and three steals. Danita Gonzalez had four points, Keyounie Alexander three and Kyeisha Clater, Tyra Tyeskey, Victoria Phillips and Baleigh Deese adding two each.

TATUM 75, WHITE OAK 24

WHITE OAK — Led by Aundrea Bradley’s quadruple-double and a double-double from Kaleigh Hooker, the Tatum Lady Eagles improved to 7-0 in District 16-3A play (17-6 overall) with a 75-24 win over White Oak.

Bradley finished with 17 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds and 10 steals, and Hooker added 10 points, 10 assists, three rebounds and three steals for the Lady Eagles, who led 43-12 at halftime.

Kamdyn Scott finished with a team-leading 19 points, adding seven rebounds and four blocks. Rhianna Harris had 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals, two blocks and two assists, Kyndal Greenwood eight points, Saniya Cotton three points and two rebounds, Alecia Halton two points and two steals and Addyson Saunders two points.

TROUP 25, SABINE 16

LIBERTY CITY — The Troup Lady Tigers survived a low-scoring affair, using a 13-2 run in the third quarter to pull away for a 25-16 District 16-3A win over the Sabine Lady Cardinals.

Qhenja Jordan and Jakeira Davis scored seven points apiece for Troup. Zaquirah Jordan and Hannah Cearley had five apiece, and Paisley Skinner chipped in with two.

Autumn Rhodes had six points, Kaitlynn Sanchez three, Sarah Roberts, Jada Kranzman and Ella Dot Phillips two each and Madison Pierce one for Sabine in the loss.

MPCH 30, NEW DIANA 25

MOUNT PLEASANT — Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill outscored New Diana 7-2 in the final quarter on the way to a 30-25 District 13-3A victory.

Taryn Reece and Starrmia Dixon scored 11 points apiece in the loss for New Diana. Reece added four rebounds, and Dixon finished with three. Natalie Manes scored two points and added three rebounds and two steals, and Bailey Tennimon chipped in with one point and six rebounds.

JEFFERSON 52, HARMONY 24

HARMONY — Stormi McNeil and Jordyn Davidson combined for 23 points, and the Jefferson Lady Bulldogs used two big middle quarters to roll past Harmony, 52-24, in District 13-3A action.

McNeil had 12 points, Davidson 11, Janaa Goynes nine and Jade Mallory and Keinysa Wallace eight apiece for Jefferson, which outscored the Lady Eagles 35-10 in the second and third frames. Jazmyne Luster finished with three points and Kaliyah Whitaker one. McNeil also had 13 rebounds and three blocks, Wallace 11 rebounds, Davidson five rebounds, five assists and four steals and Goynes, Luster and Mallory five rebounds apiece.

HUGHES SPRINGS 72, DAINGERFIELD 27

HUGHES SPRINGS — Diamonique Bowles led four Lady Mustangs into double figures with 22 points, and Hughes Springs earned a 72-27 District 13-3A win over Daingerfield on Friday.

Bowles also had nine rebounds, five steals and four assists for the Lady Mustangs, who led 24-6 after one quarter and 47-11 at halftime.

Kate McKinney chipped in with 13 rebounds and five steals, Kadi Daniels six points and three rebounds, Fantasi Smith four points, two rebounds and two steals, Kayden Pitts two points, eight rebounds and two steals and Kinlee Twilley two points and two steals.

WILLS POINT 41, QUINLAN FORD 15

WILLS POINT — In a District 13-4A contest, Wills Point got 19 points from Lacey Luna in a 41-15 victory over Quinlan Ford.

PITTSBURG 44, PARIS 18

PITTSBURG — Gina Mackey and Randieunna Jeffery combined for 28 points to lead the Pittsburg Lady Pirates to a 44-18 District 14-4A win over the Paris Lady Wildcats.

Gina Mackey had 15 points, Jeffery 13, Camryn Mackey eight, Nataly Gonzalez six and Araceli Moreno two for Pittsburg, which led 14-9 after one quarter and 23-9 at halftime.
