Grace girls, Brook Hill boys earn district wins

The Grace Community Lady Cougars opened TAPPS Division II District 2 girls soccer with an 8-0 victory over Brook Hill on Thursday at Clyde-Perkins Stadium in Tyler.
Goals for the Lady Cougars were scored by Elle Durham (4), Ella Herrin(2), Addison Eli and Harper Miller. Assists came courtesy of Eli (4), Durham (2), Miller and Maggie Gillen.
Keely Bozeman, Bela Sabillon, Julia Feliciano, Gillen, Reagan Tutt, Gracyn Campbell and Tori Perez combined for the shut out.
Riley-Jane McCord had 12 saves for the Guard.
Grace improves to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in district. The Guard go to 3-6-1 and 1-1.
The Lady Cougars will be back at home on Friday, Jan. 23 against Austin Hyde Park at 5 p.m. The Guard visits Austin Brentwood Christian on Monday.
BOYS
Brook Hill 2, Grace 0
Jose Gonzalez scored two goals and goalkeeper Christian Pous had four saves as Brook Hill defeated Grace Community 2-0 on Thursday in a TAPPS Division II District 2 boys soccer match at Clyde-Perkins Stadium.
The Guard improves to 8-1-1 overall and 2-0 in district. The Cougars fell to 3-2 and 0-1.
Brook Hill visits Austin Brentwood at 3 p.m. Monday.
