Boys Basketball Notebook: Brook Hill’s Roy Rudzinskas takes weekly honor

Brook Hill’s Roy Rudzinskas has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Boys Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played Jan. 6-11.

Rudzinskas put up 30 points and 13 rebounds in a 50-37 win over Dallas Cristo Rey.



The 6-7 junior from Lithuania was also the CBS19 Sports Player of the Week.

In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):

Tyler Legacy’s Jayden Jones had 23 points and three rebounds in an 84-49 win over Forney. Zyere Ceasar had 23 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. JP Rainer had 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocks.

Grace Community junior guard Doak Porter had 22 points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists in a 65-54 win over Rusk.

Edgewood junior forward averaged 20.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in district wins over Eustace and Mineola.

Hawkins junior guard Brayden Givens had 27 points, eight rebounds and four steals in a 75-51 win over Big Sandy. Givens was 9 of 19 from the field and 4 of 8 from 3-point range.

Tyler HEAT’s Waker Hartman had 20 points in a 59-42 win over Marshall Christian. Eli Anderson had 8 points, nine assists and five steals.
