Williams earns 3A Built Ford Tough honors

FRISCO – Jefferson senior running back Kamran Williams was named the Built Ford Tough Class 3A Texas High School Football Player of the Year on Saturday at the program’s annual banquet held at the Omni Frisco Hotel.
Williams was joined by Duncanville’s Keelon Russell in Class 6A, Flour Bluff’s Jayden Paluseo in Class 5A, Alvarado’s Cardea Collier in Class 4A, Sunray’s Armando Lujan in Class 2A and Parish Episcopal’s Sawyer Anderson for private schools.
Now in its 19th season, the Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week program honors players for their performances on and off the field.
One player from each classification earned Player of the Week honors during the regular season, and the Player of the Year in each classification was selected from that list.
Williams was Player of the Week following Jefferson’s Week 10 35-34 win over Liberty-Eylau to clinch the District 8-3A Division I championship.
The Jefferson standout carried 34 times for 228 yards and a touchdown, caught a 31-yard touchdown pass and had the game-winning 2-point conversion with 40 seconds remaining.
For the year, Williams carried 289 times for 2,363 yards and 28 touchdowns and caught six passes for 62 yards and one score.
Duncanville’s Russell completed 238 of 343 passes for 4,177 yards, 55 touchdowns and four interceptions and carried 33 times for 321 yards and three scores.
Flour Bluff’s Paluseo completed 271 of 375 passes for 4,183 yards, 56 touchdowns and nine interceptions and carried 109 times for 543 yards and nine touchdowns.
Alvarado’s Collier completed 240 of 341 passes for 3,801 yards, 43 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and rushed for 1,478 yards and 32 scores on 157 carries.
Sunray’s Lujan completed 251 of 384 passes for 3,463 yards, 34 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, rushed for 526 yards and 13 touchdowns on 85 attempts and added 21 tackles, five interceptions, a fumble recovery and two forced fumbles on defense.
Parish Episcopal’s Anderson passed for 5,134 yards and 49 touchdowns, completing 255 of 393 attempts with nine interceptions, and also carried 69 times for 432 yards and six scores.
