FRANKSTON — Our beloved Clifton “Kip” Camp passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025. Kip was born in Los Angeles, CA, on July 7, 1932, to Clifton Clyde and Helen Camp. He was a loving husband of 71 years to Joyce Camp, with whom he had one son and three daughters.
Kip moved several times throughout his childhood because of his father’s job. While his childhood took him across the country, he stayed active in school, becoming a great athlete and making many friends. As a teenager, Kip joined the Marine Corps. Later, he attended the University of North Texas on a football scholarship, where he met the love of his life, and their love story began.
Kip worked in sales and management at American General and later established his own Farmers Insurance agency. After retiring from Farmers Insurance, Kip and Joyce moved to the Freeman Family Farm in Frankston. During his time in Frankston, Kip was a devoted member of Marvin Methodist Church in Tyler and a committed member of the Historical Commission in Palestine. Kip also served as a 32-degree Mason for over 50 years.
Left to cherish Kip’s memory are his wife, Joyce of Frankston; son, Marc Camp and wife Dawn of Missouri City, TX; daughter, Loyana Pollok and husband Leroy of St. Hedwig, TX, Bethena Atwood of Tyler, and Marion Nye and husband Bill of Frankston. He is also survived by his brother, Kerry Camp and wife Gerry of Oviedo, FL; brother-in-law, Ben Freeman of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Cody, Carly, Tiffany, Lindsay, Christina, and William; 10 great-grandchildren; Chase, Abigail, Reece, Chloe, Sasha, Layla, Colton, Ty, Lane, and Bryce; and great-great-granddaughter, Blaize Marie.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, and family will receive friends and loved ones until 8 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Autry Funeral Home in Frankston, with Dr. Doug Baker officiating. He will be laid to rest at Frankston City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody, William, Colton, Reece, Ty, Lane, and Bryce.
Rather than customary condolences, memorials may be made to Marvin Methodist Program, 300 W Erwin St, Tyler, TX 75702, or Frankston Methodist Church, 110 S Weldon St, Frankston, TX 75763.
