Police are searching for a murder suspect after a woman was found dead inside a Tyler apartment Monday afternoon.
Around 3:05 p.m. Monday, Tyler Police Department officers, detectives and crime scene investigators responded to a homicide at an apartment complex located at 9099 Bellwood Lake Rd.
A woman was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside the apartment. She has been identified as Cheyenne Russell, 26, of Nacogdoches. Her family has been notified, police said.
The suspect in this case has been identified as Jorian Jackson, 29, of Plano. A murder warrant with a $1 million bond has been issued on Jackson, who remained wanted and on the loose as of Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the vehicle Jackson was expected to be traveling in — a black 2010 Ford F-150 with Texas handicap plate 9PFMW — was located Tuesday afternoon, but Jackson was not in the truck.
Jackson should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. Along with the Tyler Police Department and other local agencies, the Texas Fugitive Task Force and Texas Department of Public Safety are actively searching for Jackson.
If you know his location, please contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000. If it is in an emergency, please call 911.
The murder was not a random act, police said.
Russell was a mother and known as a bright spot in the life of her loved ones, according to public social media posts made by friends and family in the wake of her death. She and Jackson had one child together.
Police say Russell’s children are safe with other family members.
This case is still under investigation. Further information will be released as it is made available.
