Authorities seek suspect after alleged gunpoint robbery on State Highway 31 in Smith County

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigated an aggravated robbery that happened Friday morning.

At approximately 10:30 a.m., Smith County deputies responded to an aggravated robbery that had allegedly just occurred at 10751 SH 31 East near Tyler. When deputies got there, a victim said they were robbed at gunpoint.

The preliminary investigation revealed an allegation that Black male, armed with a handgun, dressed in all black clothing, a black ski mask, gloves, and shoe coverings entered the store and demanded the victim open the cash register. The suspect then allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register drawer and fled out of the front door of the business.

The suspect allegedly entered a black passenger car being driven by another Black male and fled eastbound on State Highway 31 East.

Smith County investigators responded to the scene to canvass the area and contact potential witnesses.
