Girls Basketball Roundup: Lady Raiders, Lady Lions capture wins

LONGVIEW — At Lobo Coliseum, Senoj Jones scored 15 points, and Tyler Legacy held on for a 46-40 District 10-6A win over the Longview Lady Lobos on Friday in a District 10-6A girls basketball game.

Others scoring for the Lady Raiders were Holland Pine (7), Nichole Baldwin (6), Zareya Ceasar (5), Grace Mills (4), Zion Smith (2), DeCaila Bailey (2), Madison Farmer (2) and Na’Coria Jackson (1).

Paris Simpson led the way for Longview with 12 points. Jailiyah Rockmore added nine, Bethany Baltes seven, Markayla Haynes four, Daniella Baeza and Maya Ward three apiece and Terri Sparkman two.

The Lady Raiders improve to 18-2 on the season and 4-0 in district. The Lady Lobos fall to 13-3 and 1-2.

Tyler Legacy and Tyler High will host the first Tyler ISD Whataburger Holiday Hoops Classic Dec. 27-28.

Tyler 62, Nacogdoches 20

NACOGDOCHES — Bralyah Miller hit for 27 points to help power the Tyler Lady Lions to a 62-20 win over the Nacogdoches Lady Dragons on Friday in a District 10-5A girls basketball game.

The Lady Lions improve to 16-4 on the season and 7-0 in district.

Others scoring for the Lady Lions were Kalyse Buffin (11), Jer’Miya Rice (9), LaTajia Hambick (7), Jada Brown (5), Jaz Moore (3) and Ma’Kayla Taylor (3).

Hope Lind led Nacogdoches with nine points.

Chapel Hill 55, Henderson 34

HENDERSON — Necie Johnson and Ra’Nyah Tomlinson led Chapel Hill with 10 points apiece as the Lady Bulldogs scord a 55-34 win over Henderson on Friday in District 16-4A girls basketball.

Tomlinson had nine rebounds five steals, while Johnson added seven rebounds and four steals.

Other contributors for Chapel Hill were Ra’Niyah Suell (7 points, 4 rebounds), Aryssa Cooper (5 points, 6 rebounds, 7 steals), Ayana McGill Gardner (5 points) and Lorena Taylor Fuentes (5 points).

Chapel Hill is 11-7 on the season and 4-0 in district. The Lady Lions go to 6-9 and 2-2.

Brownsboro 62, Van 30

BROWNSBORO — Tiykeah McKenzie led the way for Brownsboro with 17 points, and the Bearettes moved to 15-8 on the year and 1-2 in District 15-4A play with a 62-30 win over Van.

Chyann Stidham had 13 points and Emma Scott 10 for Brownsboro, which led 33-18 at halftime. Kynsie Daniels added nine points, Riley Smith seven and Parmer Fitzgerald, Natalee Smith and Sarah Hughes two each.

Lanna Tschirhart and Landry Guy scored nine apiece in the loss for Van. Olivia Ryan added eight, and Jayla Thomas and Keeley Walker finished with two each.

Pine Tree 71, Gilmer 43

LONGVIEW — At the Pirate Center, Aaliyah Oliver scored 27 points and three other Lady Pirates scored in double figures on the way to a 71-43 District 16-4A win over the Gilmer Lady Buckeyes.

Njari Williams scored 12 points, Jazmin Johnson 11 and Jacky Barrera 10 as Pine Tree improved to 15-5 overall and 3-1 in district play. Oliver also contributed four steals and four assists, Williams eight rebounds, Barrera six rebounds and Johnson three steals.

Chapel Hill 55, Henderson 34

HENDERSON — The Chapel Hill Lady Bulldogs built a 19-point (34-15) halftime lead on the way to a 55-34 win over the Henderson Lady Lions in District 16-4A action.

Kyla Tyeskey recorded a double-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and two steals in the loss for Henderson. Kyeisha Clater added nine points and three rebounds, Anya Jackson six points, five rebounds and five steals and Danita Gonzalez and Baleigh Deese two points apiece.

Hawkins 53, Harmony 29

DALLAS — At American Airlines Center, Taetum Smith scored 19 of her game-high 21 points to lead Hawkins to a 53-29 victory over Harmony.

Harmony jumped out to an 8-5 lead, but Hawkins battled back and led 13-12 after the first quarter. A Taetum Smith 3-pointer in the final seconds of the second quarter sent Hawkins into the locker room with a 25-19 lead with Smith scoring 19 of the points.

The Lady Hawks outscored the Lady Eagles 14-5 in the third quarter to pull away for a 39-24 lead before following it up with a 14-5 fourth quarter, as well.

Triniti Mauk led Harmony with 13 points and eight rebounds. Rendi Seahorn had 7 points and 14 rebounds. Mally Davidson had 6 points and six steals, and Evie Helpenstill added 3 points.

Other scorers for Hawkins were Londyn Wilson 9; Alana Gipson 8; Alaya Scoggins 5; and Jentri Evans, Haylee Skipworth, Karsyn Johnson, Keiper Pruitt and Ava Ellison all with 2 points. Johnson had eight rebounds. Wilson had six rebounds, and Gipson added four steals.

To go with her 21 points, Taetum Smith had six rebounds, six assists and four steals. She also made two 3-pointers playing with the NBA 3-point line, which is 23 feet, nine inches in the center and 22 feet in the corners, opposed to 19 feet, 9 inches in high school.

Tatum 77, Arp 23

TATUM — Alecia Halton and Aundrea Bradley scored 16 points apiece, Kamdyn Scott added 15 for the Lady Eagles and Tatum coasted to a 77-23 District 16-3A win over the Arp Lady Tigers on Friday.

Halton added four rebounds, Bradley six assists, five rebounds and eight steals and Scott six assists, seven rebounds, six steals and four blocks as Tatum moved to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in district play. The Lady Eagles led 26-0 after one quarter and 46-9 at halftime.

Rhianna Harris added seven points, seven rebounds and two assists. Kaleigh Hooker finished with three points and four rebounds, Patience Price five points, six assists, two rebounds and five steals, Braylia Williams seven points, two rebounds and two assists, Addyson Saunders two points, Kyndal Greenwood two points and five steals and Alayah Creer four points and seven rebounds.

Jefferson 65, Christian Heritage Classical 44

JEFFERSON — In non-district action, Jordyn Davidson led four Lady Bulldogs into double figures with 16 points, and Jefferson rolled to a 65-44 win over Christian Heritage Classical School.

Stormi McNeil had 15 points, and Keinysa Wallace and Janaa Goynes finished with 13 apiece. Destiny Kelly finished with seven points, and Jade Mallory had one. Davidson finished with a triple-double, adding 22 rebounds, 11 assists and four steals. Goynes and McNeil added six rebounds apiece. Wallace came away with three steals, and McNeil blocked three shots.

Sabine 39, White Oak 23

WHITE OAK — Madison Pierce scored 12 points to lead a balanced Lady Cardinal scoring attack, and Sabine earned a 39-23 District 16-3A win over the White Oak Ladynecks.

Kaitlynn Sanchez added eight for Sabine. Ella Dot Phillips finished with six, Autumn Rhodes five, Sarah Roberts four, Kada Kranzman three and Taylor Galey one.

Harleton 33, Union Grove 32

UNION GROVE — The Harleton Lady Wildcats held on for a 33-32 win over the Union Grove Lady Lions on Friday in District 21-2A action.

Nico Carloni had 15 points, Kiera Taylor nine, Taylor Campbell six and Danica Vestal two for Union Grove, which trailed 31-22 heading into the final stanza before outscoring Harleton 10-2 over the last eight minutes.

Troup 26, Gladewater 21

TROUP — Jakeria Davis led the way for Troup with 10 points, and the Lady Tigers earned a 26-21 win over Gladewater to move to 14-3 overall and 4-0 in District 16-3A play.

Qhenja Jordan and Amari Shepard had six points apiece for Troup, and ZaQuirah Jordan added four.
