“It was amazing,” Hawkins senior forward Derek Hollman said. “It was definitely a fun experience for me, my teammates and just for the Hawkins community, in general.”

“It was a great opportunity,” Hawkins head girls basketball coach Quiana Conde said. “We couldn’t have done it without our school and the community that stood behind us and wanted the girls to have the experience.

“I thought we came out kind of flat in the first half. I don’t know why, maybe it’s the break. But I thought we played really flat. And then our shots weren’t falling. I expected that, especially with the depth perception and all. I think they made adjustments or finally got used to it. I think we kind of showed up and other kids got involved more offensively in the second half.”
Trinity Mauk led Harmony with 13 points and eight rebounds. Rendi Seahorn had 7 points and 14 rebounds. Mally Davidson had 6 points and six steals, and Evie Helpenstill added 3 points.
Other scorers for Hawkins were Londyn Wilson 9; Alana Gipson 8; Alaya Scoggins 5; and Jentri Evans, Haylee Skipworth, Karsyn Johnson, Keiper Pruitt and Ava Ellison all with 2 points. Johnson had eight rebunds. Wilson had six rebounds, and Gipson added four steals.

Hawkins is ranked No. 11 in Class 2A by the TABC and No. 7 in 2A by TexasHoops.
Harmony led 6-5 early, but the Hawks responded with an 8-0 run before the Eagles got a 3-pointer by Ollie Trimble with 10 seconds left in the first quarter to cut the score to 13-9. That was the last time Harmony scored until a Trimble jumper with 1:13 left in the third quarter.
Hawkins led 25-9 at halftime and 38-11 after three quarters. Harmony was 1 of 18 from the field with 13 turnovers in the second and third quarters.
“It was an amazing experience, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, especially for these kids just to be able to step on the Mavs’ floor is awesome, something I don’t think we could ever do,” Hawkins head boys basketball coach Ty Davis said. “It was definitely fun and a good experience for the kids.
“We played good, played loose. They kind of had fun like I asked them to. It’s not every day you get to play on the Mavericks’ floor. So as hard as I want to be on them and as perfect as I want them to be, I still wanted them to enjoy the moment, and I think they did.”
Derek Hollman led Hawkins with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Other scorers were Eli Snider 6; Eli Smith 6; Larry Moungle 5; Brayden Givens 4; Derien Hollman 4; Paul Smith 4; Damarion Burt 3; Gavin Smith 2; Colton Griffis 2; and Riggin Smith 1.
