Basketball Roundup: Tyler Legacy takes down state-ranked Lake Highlands

Tyler Legacy knocked off state-ranked Lake Highlands, 65-63, on the road on Friday night.
Lake Highlands was ranked No. 15 in Class 6A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and No. 9 by TexasHoops/GASO.

The Red Raiders received a big night from Ja’Corian Oes, who delivered 27 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
Jayden Jones had 13 points.
Other scorers for Legacy were Gage Nuckolls 9; Zyere Ceasar 7; Josh Hall 5; JP Rainer 2; and KJ Cyres 2.
Nuckolls had four rebounds and seven assists. Cyres had six assists. Ceasar blocked two shots. Tyler Henry added three assists and two steals.
Legacy (9-9) will play Royse City at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Royse City. The Red Raiders will host Longview in the District 10-6A opener at 7 p.m. Friday.
Tyler HEAT 64, Timpson 41

BEN WHEELER — Coen Starr and Jet Bell each scored 15 points as Tyler HEAT took third place in Martin’s Mill’s Bryan Mewbourn Tournament with a 64-41 victory over Timpson.
Trey Madrid scored 10 points for Tyler HEAT. Other scorers were Kedren Penney 9; Aiden Shelton 5; Eli Anderson 4; Waker Hartman 3; and Ben Holmes 3.
Also in the tournament, Tyler HEAT defeated Grapeland (53-47) and Graford (59-46) and lost to Commerce (61-56).
Starr was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Brownsboro 65, Wills Point 48
WILLS POINT — Mann Scott and Keaton Delaney combined for 47 points as Brownsboro took third place in the Wills Point Tournament with a 65-48 win over Wills Point.
Scott had 27 points, and Delaney scored 20 points.
Other scorers for the Bears were Gabe Hendricks 8; Rolan Reddic 3; Amry Parmer 3; Danton Wright 2; and Lane Shaw 2.
Brownsboro (8-7) was scheduled to play at Bishop Gorman on Monday.
GIRLS
Chapel Hill 38, Carthage 32
Necie Johnson scored 10 points to lead Chapel Hill to a 38-32 win over Carthage.
Ra’Nyah Tomlinson, Aryssa Cooper and Ayana McGill Gardner all had 8 points. Cooper had seven rebounds, and McGill Gardner added six rebounds and three steals.
Troup 35, Sabine 22
Qhenja Jordan scored 15 points to lead Troup to a 35-22 win over Sabine.
Other scorers for Troup were ZaQuirah Jordan 8; Hannah Cearley 6; Jakeira Davis 4; and Amari Shepard 2.
Scorers for Sabine were Kaitlynn Sanchez 9; Presley Johnson 4; Madison Pierce 4; Sarah Roberts 3; and Autumn Rhodes 2.
Troup (12-3, 2-0) will play Arp at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Arp.
Canton 39, Brownsboro 27
BROWNSBORO — Allison Rickman scored 16 points as Canton won the District 15-4A opener over Brownsboro, 39-27.
Canton led 13-1 after the first quarter, 18-10 at halftime and 33-16 after three quarters.
Parmer Fitzgerald led Brownsboro with 11 points. Other scorers for Brownsboro were Kynsie Daniels 6; Bradie Cooper 5; Tiykeah McKenzie 3; and Sadie Piper 2.
Chloe Howe scored 13 points for the Eaglettes. Other scorers for Canton were Lexi Etheridge 4; Addison Capps 2; Lily Cervantes 2; and Izzy Stone 2.
