TYLER — Roger W. McLaren, 82, died peacefully on December 1, 2024, in Tyler, TX surrounded by family. He was born September 9, 1942, in Magazine, AR to Raymond and Margaret McLaren.
He cherished his family and loved to brag about them to anyone who’d listen. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat; his children Roger and wife, Lysa and Toni and husband, John; his grandchildren, Morgan, Denver, Logan, Hannah and Rachel and great-grandchildren, Lilly, Ollie and Miles. He is also survived by his brother John McLaren and sister, Jo Ellen Glenn. He is preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Doris Hankinson.
After proudly serving the US Army, he attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, AR before embarking on a 35 year teaching career. Mr. Mac, as he was known by his students, touched the lives of thousands of young people and shared with them his love of music. Roger loved visiting with his former students whenever possible and hearing all about their careers and families.

Visitation to be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, TX 75703.
Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, TX 75703.
