LONGVIEW — Led by a dominant performance at the net by Harmony’s Rendi Seahorn, the Red Team swept past the Blue Team on Sunday, 25-19, 25-22, 26-24, to win the first Class A, 2A, 3A BSN Sports East Texas All Star Game.

The game was played at Spring Hill’s Panther Gymnasium.

Seahorn, who earned Most Valuable Player honors, finished with 12 kills, six blocks and an ace. Alaya Scoggins of Hawkins, Alli Sims of White Oak and Mahayla McMahon of Mineola all added four kills for the Red team. Scoggins added two blocks, Tatum’s Karly Stroud two aces, Grand Saline’s Jade McCord five kills and two blocks, Hughes Springs’ Mallory Biddy two blocks, Sabine’s Keeley McCann 11 assists, Sims eight assists and three aces and McMahon two blocks.

For the Blue team, Beckville’s Carli Tuttle had 14 assists and two aces, West Rusk’s Bella Mata 11 assists, New Diana’s Jolie Ballard an ace and a kill, New Diana’s Chloe Green three kills, Beckville’s Kellen Weaver nine kills, White Oak’s Addison McClanahan six kills, Tatum’s Kamdyn Scott 12 kills and three blocks, Jefferson’s Kourtlyn Dowell three kills and Arp’s Maddie Birdsong two kills and two blocks.

The Red team trailed 2-0 early, but tied things at 2-2 and then went in front for good with a Seahorn block that highlighted an 8-0 run for the team. The lead reached eight (14-6) on a kill from Biddy, but the Blue team stormed back and cut the deficit to four (22-18) when Tuttle set Weaver and McClanahan up for back-to-back slams.

McCann later set up McMahon for a kill to give the Red team a 25-19 win in the first set.

A combo block from McMahon and Biddy put Red on top 13-7 in the second set, but Blue rallied and eventually tied things at 22-22 on an ace from Ballard. A block for a point from Sims on the next point put Blue in front to stay, and McCann set Seahorn up for a kill and a 25-22 second-set win.

Red never trailed in the third set, building a 5-0 lead early and taking a 14-8 cushion after a dump kill from Sims. Blue kept it close and got kills from Weaver and McClanahan to make it 20-17. A block from Scott later made it 23-22, and Tuttle set Birdsong and Scott up for kills to knot things at 24-24, but back-to-back bump kill attempts landed out of bounds for the Blue team as Red closed it out for the 26-24 win.
