LaPoynor’s Cort Reid and Palestine Westwood’s Kavian Bryant have earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Boys Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played Dec. 2-7.
Reid averaged 34.4 points, 4.8 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 steals in five games. He had two games scoring 41 points, and he reached his 2,000th career point Friday against Arp

Bryant, a sophomore with Division I offers in basketball and football, averaged 33.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals as Westwood went 6-0 and won the Great East Texas Shootout in Brownsboro.
Bryant had 43 points, four steals, five rebounds and five assists in an 84-59 win over Crockett. He had 39 points and 10 rebounds in a 59-52 win over No. 8 Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill, and he had 34 points, seven rebounds and three steals in the 64-48 win over Bishop Gorman in the GETSO championship.
In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches)
Tyler Legacy’s Ja’Corian Oes averaged 19.3 points and 11.3 rebounds as the Red Raiders went 3-1. Jayden Jones averaged 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds. Gage Nuckolls averaged 6.8 points, 5.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
All Saints’ Caz Franks averaged 14.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 3.0 charges per game. He had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and he took six charges in the championship game of the FRESH by Brookshire’s Classic against Garrison. He was named the Tournament MVP.
Bishop Gorman’s Elijah Coppock averaged 14.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, and he had 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists and five steals in a win over Kilgore. Jaylon Miles averaged 11.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists, and he had 25 points, six rebounds and five assists in a win over Marshall Christian Academy. Ryan Richbourg averaged 10.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Brownsboro’s Mann Scott averaged 19.0 ponts and 5.2 rebounds in five games.
Mabank’s Luke Carter averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and shot 57 percent from 3-point range in wins over Sunnyvale and St. Joseph-Australia.
Union Hill sophomore EJ Mowery averaged 32.0 points and 9.0 rebounds, and he had a 59-point game where he was 11 of 21 from 3-point range.
