Chapel Hill wins Eddie Rodgers Tournament

GRAND SALINE — The No. 10 Chapel Hill Bulldogs were 4-0 to capture the Eddie Rodgers Memorial Basketball Tournament championship.

The Bulldogs (12-3) scored two wins on Saturday, defeating host Grand Saline (80-50) in the morning game and the Big Sandy Wildcats (75-45) in the tourney finale.

Chapel Hill also scored wins over Harmony (89-26) and Terrell (80-73, OT).

In the victory over Harmony, Jordyn Bradshaw and Isiah Mayfield had double-doubles. Bradshaw had 28 points (2 3 pointers) and 13 rebounds, while Mayfield added 16 points and 10 boards.



Jorden Ford had a near double-double with 14 points and nine steals.

Others contributors for the Bulldogs against the Eagles were: Anthony Smith (14 points, 6 blocks), Jaylon Ford (6 points), Ryder Steele (5 points, 1 3 pointer), Marquis Collins II (3 points, 1 3-pointer, 10 steals) and Jarrett Cummings (3 points).

Later on Thursday, Collins led the way with 21 points (including 2 3-pointers) against Terrell. Others helping the Bulldogs by the Tigers were: Mayfield (16 points, 15 rebounds), Bradshaw (15 points, 10 rebounds), Jorden Ford (12 points, 2 3-pointers), Anthony Smith (7 points), Steele (7 points), Steele (5 points, 1 3-pointer) and Jaylon Ford (4 points).

On Saturday morning against Grand Saline, leading the way were Mayfield (19 points, 10 rebounds, 1 3-pointer), Smith (17 points, 16 rebounds, 2 blocks), Collins (14 points, 4 3-pointers), Bradshaw (10 points, 1 3-pointer), Steele (9 points, 3 3-pointers), Malik Gee (7 points, 1 3-pointer) and Jorden Ford (4 points).

In the finale against Big Sandy, Mayfield had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Other contributors vs. the Wildcats were Jorden Ford (17 points, 1 3-pointer), Bradshaw (11 points), Gee (11 points, 1 3-pointer), Steele (11 points, 3 3-pointers), Collins (8 points, 2 3-pointers), Smith (3 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Cummings (2 points).
