Basketball Roundup: Martin’s Mill’s Jak Kinder reaches 2,000 career points

Tyler Legacy recently dropped basketball contests to Class 6A No. 5 Duncanville and Hallsville.
On Tuesday in the Piney Woods Hoopfest in Lufkin, the Red Raiders were defeated by Duncanville, 78-60.

Jayden Jones had 25 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Ja’Corian Oes had 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Other scorers for the Red Raiders were Zyere Ceasar 8; Tyler Henry 3; and JP Rainer 3. Ceasar grabbed seven rebounds, and Nuckolls had six rebounds and three assists.
On Saturday, Legacy suffered a 59-58 road loss to Hallsville.
Jones finished with 21 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Oes had 13 points, five rebounds, six assists and two blocks.
Other scorers for Legacy were KJ Cyres 6; Henry 6; Josh Hall 5; Rainer 5; and Nuckolls 2. Nuckolls had four assists and two steals. Rainer had six rebounds, and Ceasar grabbed five rebounds.
David Maliraine led Hallsville with 15 points.

Legacy (4-8) will be in the Forney Tournament beginning Thursday. The Red Raiders will face Frisco Reedy at 3:45 p.m. Thursday; Crandall at 11:30 a.m. Friday; Prosper Walnut Grove at 5:15 p.m. Friday; and Frisco Wakeland at noon Saturday.
Martin’s Mill 81, Bishop Gorman 63
BEN WHEELER — Martin’s Mill senior Jak Kinder recently scored his 2,000th career point at the Union Grove Tournament, where the Mustangs took wins over Pine Tree (70-35), Grace Community (75-49), Harleton (77-19) and Chapel Hill (64-53).
The Mustangs followed that up with a home win of 81-63 over Gorman behind 23 points from Archer Schneider and 20 points from Kinder.
Kinder also had nine assists and eight rebounds.
Ryder Marsh scored 12 points. Other scorers were Travis Baber 9; Cooper Wright 8; Sawyer Moore 7; and Jack Milligan 2.
Beau Bender led Gorman with 18 points and seven rebounds. Ryan Richbourg had 16 points and five rebounds. Jaylon Miles had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Other scorers were EJ Coppock 7; Brooks Frans 4; and Carlin Ifeadi 4.
Frankston 73, Latexo 53
Tyler Rogers scored 15 points to lead Frankston to a 73-53 win over Latexo.
Zaylyn Donnell and Jake Westbrook each had 14 points for the Indians.
Other scorers for Frankston were Brayden Gray 8; Brayden Madison 7; Davis Holladay 6; Reese Hicks 5; and Peyton Jaco 3.
Frankston also had a 95-92 loss in double overtime to Class 1A No. 4 Brookeland in the Piney Woods Hoopfest.
Jaco scored 25 points for the Indians. Westbrook had 23 points. Madison put in 20 points.
Other scorers for Frankston were Joseph Allen 7; Gray 6; Rogers 5; Holladay 3; and Hicks 2.
Cade Morgan had 37 points for Brookeland, and Landon Smith added 29 points.
Bullard 82, Brownsboro 71
BULLARD — Tyler Lamberth scored 30 points as Bullard took an 82-71 win over Brownsboro.
Luke Alexander scored 16 points. Dylan Kress put in 15 points. Caden Cummings had 13 points. Drake Thigpen scored 4 points, and Campbell Pawlak added 2 points.
Mann Scott led Brownsboro with 26 points. Keaton Delaney had 25 points. Other scorers were Jacob Fulgham 9; Amry Parmer 3; Logan Epperson 2; Peyton Brockway; and Gabe Hendrix 2.
Tyler HEAT 63, Lipan 59
Coen Starr and Aiden Shelton each scored 18 points as Tyler HEAT took a 63-59 win over Lipan.
Shelton was 6 of 7 from 3-point range.
Waker Hartman had 14 points. Eli Anderson scored 7 points, and John Hall added 6 points.
Sophomore Court Gaylor led Lipan with 26 points.
Troup 69, Alba-Golden 37
ALBA — Caden Graves scored 21 points as Troup took a 69-37 victory over Alba-Golden.
Bryce McElroy had 14 points for Troup, and Carter Graves scored 12 points. Other scorers were Tre Anderson 9; Keenan Foster 6; Carson Davenport 5; and Logan Chambers 2.
Caden Graves and McElroy each made four 3-pointers for the Tigers.
Cameron Lennon led Alba-Golden with 15 points.
Troup (3-0) will play Elkhart at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Elkhart.
Carlisle 55, King’s Academy 53
Aidan Martin scored 15 points to lead Carlisle to a 55-53 win over King’s Academy.
Martin also had eight rebounds, eight steals and two blocks.
Brandon Garza had 14 points, six rebounds and four steals.
Other scorers were Chase Roland 8; Ladarius Starling 8; Joseph Mejia 6; and Jaxon Goss 4.
Roland had eight rebounds, and Goss grabbed seven rebounds.
GIRLS
Tyler Legacy 40, Mesquite 27
MESQUITE — Senoj Jones scored 16 points to lead Legacy to a 40-27 win over Mesquite.
Zion Smith had 10 points. Other scorers were Holland Pine 5; Madison Farmer 4; Zareya Ceasar 3; and Nichole Baldwin 2.
Legacy (11-1) will play in the Mesquite Tournament beginning Thursday.
Chapel Hill 53, Athens 40
Aryssa Cooper scored 15 points and had six steals as Chapel Hill took a 53-40 win over Athens.
Ayana McGill Gardner had 9 points and five rebounds. R’Nyah Tomlinson added 4 points, 11 rebounds and five steals.
Martin’s Mill 50, Fairfield 42
BEN WHEELER — In a battle of No. 1 teams, Class 2A No. 1 Martin’s Mill took a 50-42 win over Class 3A No. 1 Fairfield.
Kara Nixon had 21 points for Martin’s Mill.
