Girls Basketball Roundup: Tyler Legacy’s Ross Barber collects career win No. 300

WACO — Senoj Jones poured in 30 points as the Tyler Legacy Lady Raiders took an 85-69 win over Waco on Friday night.
The win marked career win No. 300 for Legacy head coach Ross Barber, and it came at the place where he recorded his first career victory.

Earlier in the week, Barber earned his 200th victory as head coach of the Lady Raiders. Barber’s overall record is now 300-123 and 201-82 with the Lady Raiders.
Legacy led 21-11 after the first quarter, 44-26 at halftime and 63-45 after three quarters.
Zareya Ceasar scored 20 points, and Holland Pine had 15. Other scorers were Shanaya Shaw 6; Na’Coria Jackson 5; DaCaila Bailey 3; Jaida Sanders 3; and Zion Smith 3.
Legacy (10-1) will face Mesquite at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mesquite.
Martin’s Mill wins Jerry Daniel Invitational
BEN WHEELER — Martin’s Mill won the inaugural Jerry Daniel Invitational with a 64-39 victory over Class 6A Longview.

The No. 1 team in Class 2A, the Lady Mustangs picked up wins of 70-41 over The Woodlands Legacy prep and 54-24 over Lindale on Thursday. Sophomore Kara Nixon had 25 points in the win over Legacy Prep.
Martin’s Mill took a 47-35 win over Douglass in the semifinals.
In the championship, Nixon scored 26 points against the previously unbeaten Lady Lobos.
Nixon was named the MVP of the tournament.
Broaddus took a 41-33 win over Douglass in the third-place game, and Canton was a 61-44 winner over The Woodlands Legacy Prep in the fifth-place game.
Joining Nixon on the All-Tournament team were Martin’s Mill’s Ruthie Mein, Alli Vaughan and Kenna Wise; Longview’s Pair Simpson and Markayla Haynes; Broaddus’ Jalia Mitchell and Macie Cook; and Canton’s Allison Rickman.
Martin’s Mill (8-0) will face Fairfield at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Martin’s Mill Turkey Tussle.
Hawkins wins New Diana Tournament
DIANA — Hawkins won the New Diana Tournament with wins of 67-33 over Jefferson and 61-40 over Avinger on Saturday.
Against Jefferson, Hawkins was led by Taetum Smith with a triple-double with 22 points, 12 assists and 10 steals. Londyn Wilson added 15 points and seven rebounds. Alaya Scoggins added 9 points, six steals and two assists. Abby McQueen scored 8 points.
In the championship against Avinger, Scoggins had 19 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Wilson had 15 points. Smith had 11 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
Tyler HEAT 38, Troup 21
UNION GROVE Qhenja Jordan scored 10 points as the Lady Tigers dropped a 38-21 decision to Tyler HEAT in the championship of the Union Grove Tournament.
Other scorers for Troup were Hannah Cearley 6; Jakeira Davis 3; and Jacey Benge 2.
Jordan was named to the All-Tournament team at the Union Grove Tournament.
Troup defeated Ore City 38-20. Cearley had 11 points, and ZaQuirah Jordan scored 10 points.
Troup defeated Longview Christian Heritage 38-20 behind 10 points from Qhenja Jordan.
Troup defeated Spring Hill 48-46 in overtime, and Qhenja Jordan scored 25 points.
Brownsboro goes 3-1 at Martin’s Mill
BEN WHEELER — Brownsboro went 3-1 at the Jerry Daniel Invitational, losing to Douglass 50-31 and picking up wins of 36-32 in overtime over North Lamar, 33-25 over Mineola and 38-27 over Mount Pleasant.
Against Douglass, Parmer Fitzgerald had 8 points and Chyann Stidham 7 points.
Against North Lamar, Stidham had 13 points for the Bearettes, who outscored North Lamar 4-0 in overtime. Bradie Cooper had 8 points.
Against Mineola, Tiykeah McKenzie led the way with 10 points, and Stidham added 9 points.
Against Mount Pleasant, Stidham had 21 points, and McKenzie scored 10 points.
Garrison 52, Sabine 48
Sarah Roberts scored 14 points as Sabine fell to Garrison.
Other scorers for Sabine were Madison Pierce 10; Bailey Pierce 8; Bella Shawn 7; Ella Dot Phillips 3; Jayda Lewis 2; Jada Kranzman 2; and Presley Johnson 2.
