Chapel Hill scores win over Houston Worthing

HUMBLE — Chapel Hill jumped out to a two-touchdown lead in the first quarter en route to a 49-24 victory over Houston Worthing on Thursday in a Class 4A Division I area playoff game at Turner Field.

The Bulldogs (9-3) advance to the regional round and will face either Pine Tree or Stafford next week.
Chapel Hill handed the Colts their first loss of the season. Worthing finishes its season at 11-1.
Rickey Stewart and Malik Gee scored rushing touchdowns in the first period. Estevan Sandoval kicked the first two of his seven PATs.
Stewart scored on a 5-yard run while Gee found the end zone on a 6-yard dash. Gee’s TD was set up by a pass from Gee to Jordan Riordan.
The Colts scored early in the second quarter as Pedro Garza booted a 21-yard field goal to bring Worthing within 14-3.
Chapel Hill followed with three touchdowns for a 35-3 halftime lead.

Lemuel Stinson ran into the end zone from 10 yards and Sandoval’s extra point gave the Bulldogs a 21-3 lead.
Stewart added his second TD, this time on a 9-yard run. Sandoval’s PAT made it 28-3.
After Jamison Fasulo recovered a fumble for the Bulldogs, Chapel Hill added another TD as Braylen Allen scored on a 15-yard tally. Sandoval’s PAT made it 35-3.
Trevor Brooks intercepted a pass right before halftime for CHHS.
Worthing opened the second half with a touchdown as Vashawn Smith had a 15-yard run. Garza’s PAT pulled the Colts within 35-10.
Chapel Hill made it 42-10 as Gee connected with Damarcion Blaylock for a 15-yard TD pass, followed by Sandoval’s PAT.
The Bulldogs led 42-10 as the fourth quarter began.
The Colts scored when Smith hit Jacory Thurman for a 50-yard TD. Tremaine Riley made the point-after.
Thurman followed with a 43-yard interception return for a TD. Garza’s PAT brought the Colts within 42-24.
Chapel Hill closed out the scoring with about four minutes to go as Cazden Holton had an 8-yard rushing TD. Sandoval’s PAT put the final score at 49-24.
