20th Annual Macy Chenevert Memorial Tournament begins

The 20th Annual Macy Chenevert Memorial Girls Basketball Tournament will tip off Thursday inside Bishop Gorman’s Haddad Gymnasium.

There will be 14 participating teams and 28 total games.

Thursday’s schedule is Bishop Gorman vs. Kilgore, 9 a.m.; Rains vs. Marshall, 10:30 a.m.; Nacogdoches Central Heights vs. Tatum, noon; Grace Community vs. Atlanta, 1:30 p.m.; Brook Hill vs. Grapevine Faith, 3 p.m.; League City Bay Area Christian vs. Jacksonville Blue, 4:30 p.m.; and Fort Worth Southwest Christian vs. Jacksonville Gold, 6 p.m.

Eight teams will go to the Gold Bracket, and six teams will go to the Silver Bracket. Bracket play will begin at 9 a.m. Friday.

The Silver Bracket Championship is set for 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The Gold Bracket Championship will be at 6 p.m. Saturday.



Martin’s Mill will host the Jerry Daniel Tournament, which will feature 14 girls teams.

Pool A is Martin’s Mill, Lindale and Legacy Prep. Pool B is Brownsboro, Douglass and North Lamar. Pool C is Broaddus, Canton and Grapeland. Pool D is Longview, Mineola and Rusk. Chapel Hill and Mount Pleasant are also in the tournament.

Thursday’s schedule for O’Neal Weaver Gym is Chapel Hill vs. Mount Pleasant, 9 a.m.; Brownsboro vs. Douglass, 10:30 a.m.; Canton vs. Grapeland, noon; Legacy Prep vs. Martin’s Mill, 1:30 p.m.; Mineola vs. Longview, 3 p.m.; North Lamar vs. Brownsboro, 4:30 p.m.; Grapeland vs. Broaddus, 6 p.m.; and Martin’s Mill vs. Lindale, 7: 30 p.m. Rusk will face Mineola at noon in Mustang Gym.

Friday’s pool schedule for O’Neal Weaver Gym is Longview vs. Rusk, 9 a.m.; Douglass vs. North Lamar, 10:30 a.m.; Broaddus vs. Canton, noon; and Chapel Hill vs. Pool D third-place team, 1:30 p.m. Lindale will face Legacy Prep at 10:30 a.m. in Mustang Gym. There will be a bracket game at 1:30 p.m. in Mustang Gym and bracket games in O’Neal Weaver Gym at 3, 4:30, 6 and 7:30 p.m.

The championship game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Union Grove Basketball Invitational Tournament begins Thursday.

The Tyler Legacy Red Raiders will play in the Coppell Tournament this weekend. They’ll face Irving MacArthur at 3 p.m. Thursday, Frisco Reedy at 6 p.m. Thursday, Byron Nelson at noon Friday and Birdville at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
