Collin Raye once said, “I think I’m on a roll here in Little Rock.”

Starting in 2025-26, Lindale High School track star Colter Maya will be rolling in Little Rock. The two-time state champion has committed to continue his track career at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, he announced on Instagram.

“When there’s a goal or a purpose in your life that’s exciting or important to you, it no longer drives you — it pulls you,” Maya posted.

Maya had also recently visited Baylor, Iowa and Michigan.

As a freshman, Maya won silver at the UIL State Track and Field Championships in the Class 4A boys 400-meter dash with a time of 48.57.

As a sophomore, Maya captured his first state gold medal in the 400, posting a time of 47.78 seconds. Maya repeated as the Class 4A champion in the 400-meter dash as a junior with a time of 46.58 seconds.

The 2025 UIL State Track and Field Championships will be May 1-3, 2025, at Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium in Austin, where Maya will look for the three-peat.

Little Rock competes in the Ohio Valley Conference with Eastern Illinois, Lindenwood, Morehead State, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri, Southern Indiana, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin and Western Illinois.
