Tyler Legacy head volleyball coach Bryan Winegeart has informed Tyler ISD athletic director Greg Priest that he is stepping down from his position, Winegeart told the Tyler Morning Telegraph on Wednesday.
“This decision was not made lightly and want to thank Tyler ISD for this opportunity the past six years,” Winegeart said. “I want to thank namely Greg Priest for his consistent support and leadership. Tyler Legacy is a fantastic place to work and being an alumni of Robert E. Lee, this place will always hold a special place in my heart. I know that with the leadership that is in place the program will be in great hands moving forward. I am not sure what the next steps for me will be, but look forward to what’s to come for my family and me.”
Winegeart was hired at then Robert E. Lee High School in 2019 after nine years at All Saints — seven as the head volleyball coach.
The Lady Raiders went 17-22 overall and 2-10 in district this season, missing the postseason for the third consecutive year. Legacy advanced to the playoffs in Winegeart’s first three seasons in 2019-21.
