Smith County’s judicial search site is back up and running after the county’s IT team worked for weeks to restore it.

“The site has been down for several weeks, and during that time, we have had employees working every day, including nights and weekends, to rebuild the site that has become so helpful to so many people,” Smith County Judge Neal Franklin said.

The portal, powered by Tyler Technologies’ Odyssey system, is a critical resource for the public to access court and jail records electronically, saving trips to the courthouse or jail. Attorneys with subscriptions also use it for secure access to court documents.

“In the last 10 years, this is the first extended outage for the self-service public access tool. This outage shows the importance of this service and why it is needed,” Franklin said. “We understand it has been an inconvenience, but the district clerk, county clerk and jail staff have been providing the information when requested.”

Chief Information Officer Don Bell commended Tyler Technologies for their partnership.

“We were one of their first customers. Our goal is to use technology to make information accessible to the public as efficiently as possible, Bell said, adding that they are working on future opportunities with Tyler Technologies to make even more information more accessible to the public.
