Thousands lined the streets of Tyler on Saturday morning to get a view of the 91st Texas Rose Festival Parade.
The festival is celebrated each year on the third weekend in October. The festivities attract not only community members, but visitors from surrounding areas and beyond, boosting tourism in the Rose City.
This year’s Texas Rose Festival, with a theme of “Fanfare of Festivals,” had more than 120 parade entries. The queen and her court’s costumes, designed by Jacob A. Climer, were inspired by festivals from across Texas, the United States, and the world.
Along with the Rose Festival Court, onlookers enjoyed seeing floats with bands, cheerleaders, clowns, dancers, car clubs, color guards, local dignitaries, public service officials, churches, businesses, quinceañeras, young queens and princesses, and much more.
The parade began on Glenwood Boulevard and Front Street and ended at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
Members of this year’s court include Rose Queen Frances Olivia Faulconer, Princess Merritt Elizabeth Dial, and Duchess of the Rose Growers Alice Elizabeth Milton.
