Austin Regents scores win over Grace Community

- Austin Regents Knights prepare to play tonights matchup against Tyler Grace Cougars on Thursday evening.
In a matchup of district unbeatens, Austin Regents scored a 42-0 victory over Grace Community on Thursday at Clyde-Perkins Stadium in Tyler.
The Knights improve to 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in Division II District 2 football, while the Cougars fall to 5-2 and 2-1.
Freshman Bradon Alexander was a standout on kick returns for the Coogs, returning four kicks for 99 yards.
Grace played two quarterbacks — J.T. Williams (5 of 14, 50 yards, 3 INTs) and McCade Stinson (5 of 9, 56 yards).
Receiving leaders for the the Cougars were Doak Porter (4-35), Lawson Livingston (2-23) and Justus McQuay (1-25).
Andrew Gardner recovered a fumble for Grace.
Regents QB Jack Devine ran and threw for more than 100 yards. He rushed for 120 yards and a TD on 18 carries, while hitting 9 of 16 passing attempts for 112 yards and a TD.
Devine scored on a 1-yard run and tossed a 19-yard TD pass to Roman Patson.
Sam Pope rushed for 82 yards and three TDs on 18 carries. He scored on runs of 6, 9 and 1 yards.
Patson had four catches for 81 yards with the TD. Blake Smith, who scored on a 9-yard run, had three catches for 22 yards.
Landon Turner kicked five PATs with Austin Acton hitting the final extra point.
Drew Novy picked off three passes for the Knights, returning the picks for 104 yards.
Charlie Burton and Ashton Hopkins each recovered fumbles for the Austin club.
The Knights play host Austin Brentwood Christian at 7 p.m. Oct. 18, while the Cougars are open next week. Grace plays host to Austin Hyde Park on Oct. 25.
