TYLER — Eva Mae Ballard Langford passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the age of 92. She was a resident of the Azalea Heights Rehab and Nursing Home in Tyler, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jewel “JP” Langford Jr., parents John Ballard and Stella Ballard, grandparents John Rains and Susan Rains, sister Letha Perdue and her husband James “Buck” Perdue, brother Leland Ballard, nephew Jimmy Perdue, and grandson Derek Langford.
Eva has four children, Stephen Langford of Avery, TX, Susan Langford, Sheryl Bellar of Hawkins, TX and David Langford of Tyler; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Barker of Melbourne, Australia, Jennifer Prock of Blanchard, LA, Michael Prock of Tyler, Cody Langford of Tyler, Stephen Langford Jr. of Eden Prairie, MN and Jason Rachels of Shreveport, LA; four great-grandchildren, Margo Langford and Alice Langford of Eden Prairie, MN, Alyssa Thompson of Benton, TX and Xander Rachels of Bossier City. LA; other immediate family members are sister-in-law, Faye Ballard; and nieces, Nona Rozell and Pennie George.
Eva was born on December 7, 1931 in Tyler. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who also loved helping many other people throughout her lifetime. She was voted one of twenty-five Ideal Girls at Tyler High and loved to cook and sing. She had a beautiful soprano voice. Eva was an exceptionally talented floral designer. She was trained by Ela at Flowers by Ela in Tyler. She later worked at Bouquets by Two K’s in Tyler. Marilyn Brosang owner of Brosang’s Flowers in Tyler asked her if she would teach her how she did her floral designs and she accepted the offer. When she lived in Tennessee she helped decorate Dolly Parton’s home and when she worked at Creations by Carol in Pigeon Forge, Biltmore Estate bought many of her floral designs to decorate the mansion in Asheville, NC at Christmas time.
Services for Eva will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler with Rev. Jeff Gage officiating. Interment will follow at Tyler Memorial Park in Tyler. Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to service.
