James McFarland Monroe

TYLER — James McFarland Monroe, 87, passed away on September 6, 2024 in Tyler, Texas. Born on July 9, 1937, in Howard, Texas, James graduated from Italy High School in 1955 and earned an associate degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He dedicated 31 years of his life to Texas Power and Light before retiring.

A valued member of Hebron Baptist Church in Tyler, James found joy in restoring classic cars and dancing to country western music. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dooley Monroe and Martha Lillian (McFarland) Monroe.

James is survived by his companion and friend Wanda Jennings of Tyler; his daughter Lori Breaux of Yantis; his son Mark Monroe of Haslet; and his grandson Chris Pendergrass of Mesquite.

James’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Interment will take place at Hebron Cemetery in Tyler.
