SEAGOVILLE — Tyler continued its momentum from last week’s win, rolling to a 48-7 win over the Seagoville Dragons on Friday at James Ray Henry Stadium.

The Lions improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Dragons fall to 0-3.

After Cadarius Miller went straight up the middle on the third play of the third quarter on a 48-yard dash, a running clock was used. Marvin Espinal made the PAT to give Tyler a 42-7 lead.

Quarterback Caden Granberry tossed four TD passes and threw for 253 yards. He hit on 18 of 22 passing attempts.

Granberry also made a tremendous athletic play in the third quarter as the snap went off his hands. He raced after the ball, picked it up at is own 35, righted himself and threw a laser to Nicholas Collins at the Dragons’ 40-yard line. Collins made a turn, outracing the Dragons for a 47-yard TD. The PAT failed and the Lions had a 48-7 lead with 9:02 showing.

McMiller had 99 yards rushing on six attempts. Arriaga had eight carries for 49 yards.

Collins had five catches for 91 yards.

The Tyler defense was outstanding, holding the Dragons to minus eight rushing and 29 passing for a total of 21 yards.

After being stopped on downs on their first drive in the first half, Tyler scored on four consecutive possessions to take a 28-0 lead.

Ashton Arriaga got the scoring going on a nifty 19-yard run over the right side behind guard Adrian Crispin and Tray Lewis. Marvin Espinal hit the PAT and Tyler led 7-0 with 1:59 on the clock in the first quarter.

On the Dragons’ next drive, Lions’ linebacker D’Canaan Sueing picked off a pass at the 27, rambling down the sideline and pitched to teammate Braylen Ford who got the ball to the 10.

On the next play, Granberry hit Davion Sirles over the middle for a 10-yard TD. Espinal’s PAT gave Tyler a 14-0 lead with 51.9 seconds showing.

In the second quarter, Ford got a pickoff of his own in the right corner of the end zone.

The Lions scored three TDs in the second period for a 35-7 lead.

Collins grabbed a 16-yard pass from Granberry and Arriaga scored on a 4-yard dash. With 19.5 seconds left before half, LaTreyson Haralson caught a beautiful 28-yard TD pass from Granberry. Espinal made the PATs.

The only score for the Dragons came on a 56-yard interception return with 1:52 remaining in the second half. Yaren Naarette made the PAT.

The Lions finish out the non-district slate on Friday, Sept. 20, hosting the Lufkin Panthers at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Earl Campbell Field.

The Dragons are slated to begin district play, hosting Dallas Woodrow Wilson on Friday, Sept. 20.
