Gorman, Frankston, Tyler, Grand Saline players earn honors

There were several outstanding team and individual performances during the second week of the high school football season.
The Tyler Morning Telegraph Players of the Week for the second week of the high school football season include: Offense — Bishop Gorman quarterback George Krog; Defense — Frankston linebacker Tyler Rogers; Special Teams — Tyler returner Caiden Drummer; and Offensive Line — Grand Saline Indians.

Previous winners were: Week 1: Offense — Hawkins quarterback Eli Smith; Defense — Arp linebacker Josh Smith; Special Teams — Whitehouse placekicker Ashton Park; and Offensive Line — Grace Community Cougars.
OFFENSE
Krog threw five touchdown passes in the Crusaders’ 54-40 loss to the New Braunfels Christian Academy Wildcats on Friday at McCallum Stadium in Tyler.
The 6-2 senior hit on 16 of 23 passing attempts for 325 yards. In two games, Krog has connected on 25 of 45 passing attempts for 470 yards and six TDs.
Krog and his Crusader teammates have a bye this week. Gorman (1-1) returns to play on Friday, Sept. 20 at Willow Park Trinity Christian. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

DEFENSE
Rogers was instrumental in Frankston’s 48-0 win over Huntington on Friday at Red Devil Field in Huntington.
The linebacker was honored as he finished with 13 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup.
He also helped out on offense, with two rushes for 100 yards and two touchdowns. He caught one pass for 11 yards .
After two road games to open the season, Rogers and the 1-1 Indians have their home opener on Friday, hosting the Grapeland Sandies (2-0) at Jeff and Opal Austin Stadium in Frankston. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
SPECIAL TEAMS
In the Tyler Lions’ 43-38 win over the Tyler Legacy Red Raiders, Drummer had a spectacular kickoff return, a 100-yard dash for a touchdown on Friday on Earl Campbell Field at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler.
He also had four rushes for 31 yards.
Drummer and the 1-1 Lions will travel to the Metroplex on Friday to meet the Seagoville Dragons (0-2). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on James Ray Henry Field at Seagoville Stadium in Seagoville.
OFFENSIVE LINE
The Grand Saline offensive line helped the Indians score a 35-27 win over Palmer on Friday on Carter Elliott Field at Indian Memorial Stadium in Grand Saline.
The offensive line of junior left tackle Gabe Lewis, junior left tackle Landon Landry, senior center Eric Rios, senior right guard Trenton Green and senior right tackle Carson Brown paved the way for 452 rushing yards.
The OL also provided holes and protection for quarterback Jett Taylor, who rushed for 196 yards and three touchdown on 17 carries.
Grand Saline (2-0) returns to play on Friday, traveling to Emory to meet the Rains Wildcats (0-2). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
