“Guys played hard,” Tyler second-year Head Coach Rashaun Woods said. “It was a great opportunity to see where we are as a football team. We will shore up some things before Marshall (opener next week). We are working on just getting better every week.”
Junior quarterback Caden Granberry had some pin-point passes with the big play a 54-yard strike on a post route that speedy sophomore wide receiver LaTreyson Haralson reached out and snagged as he reached paydirt.
That was the only score of the scrimmage, although the Lions later scored again on a 17-yard dash by Caiden Drummer, but the run was called back by penalty.
Some other highlights included:
+Ken’Trevyon Quinsey making a nice catch when he adjusted to the ball on the sideline as he was falling out of bounds. The toss from Granberry netted the Lions 17 yards and also Haralson caught another pass for 31 yards.
+Nicholas Collins, on a jet sweep, ran for 17 yards and Davion Sirles showed speed on an 18-yard reception.

+Terrell Crawford scooping up a fumble for the Lions.
D’Canaan Sueing and D’crystian Sueing making some good hits on defense, as the Cujo ‘D’ pretty much held the Tigers in check with the exception of a couple of trap plays and one pass reception.
“Too many mistakes on both sides of the football,” Woods noted. “I am pleased with the effort. There were some things I was happy to see as opposed to last year — there were some improvements. Some of the mistakes that plaqued us last year early on — nervousness, jittery — in the first scrimmage showed early on.”
Near the end of the scrimmage, defensive back Jeremiah Taylor had a big hit on the Tiger running back.
The Lions open the regular season on Friday, Aug. 30 against the Marshall Mavericks. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Maverick Stadium in Marshall.
The Tigers are scheduled to play Frisco Memorial in the season opener on Friday, Aug. 30 in Frisco. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at David Kuykendall Stadium.
