Lions, Tigers meet tonight

TERRELL — For the third straight year there will Lions and Tigers and no bears.
The Tyler Lions and the Terrell Tigers will tangle in a football scrimmage Thursday at Terrell Memorial Stadium (1300 W. Moore, Terrell, 75160).

The junior varsity and freshmen teams will scrimmage simultaneously from 6-7 p.m.
The ball will be spotted on the 40-yard line to begin each series.
The varsity squads will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The format includes:
The ball will be spotted on the 35-yard line to begin each series.
Each team will have three downs to make a first down, unless inside the 20-yard line.

If the offense fails to record a first down, the ball will return to the 35-yard line.
When the offense is inside the 10-yard line the possession will continue until the offense scores or the defense holds them, regardless of the play count.
Interceptions and fumbles lost will result in the play being blown dead and the football returned to the 35-yard line.
With the exception of field goals and extra point attempts, there will be no special teams play. Field goal attempts will count as a play, extra point attempts will not.
In the kicking segment (punt and PAT), it will be live if possible.
The schedule is as follows:
Tyler punt vs. Terrell rush, three snaps.
Tyler rush vs. Terrell punt, three snaps.
Tyler field goal/PAT vs. Terrell rush, three snaps.
Tyler rush vs. Terrell field goal/PAT, three snaps.
Tyler kickoff vs. Terrell kickoff return, two snaps.
Tyler kickoff return vs. Terrell kickoff, two snaps.
A game situtation is also scheduled:
One regular quarter with normal game rules.
Terrell on Offense first.
All extra points and field goals will have a live rush.
No returns on punts and no rush on punts.
No kickoffs, ball will be spotted at the 35-yard line.
All penalties will be marked off.
The Tigers are in District 6-5A Division II. Terrell was 6-4 last season and will open the regular season on Aug. 30 at Frisco Memorial.
The Lions are in District 7-5A Division I. Tyler was 6-4 last season and will open the regular season on Aug. 30 at Marshall.
