“We are excited to be a part of it,” Landry Mayo said. “It’s happened once before in 25 years. It’s fun because these guys are all going off to play college baseball, so this helps them stay on the field and work and be ready to contribute when they get on campus, which is important in the current portal landscape.”
The Dallas Patriots (26-5) will be joined at the Connie Mack World Series by D-Bat United (24-5), Midland Redskins (27-9), Dallas Tigers (20-5), Texas Twelve, Acadiana Cajuns (15-2), Mississauga Tigers (38-6-1), North Texas Longhorns (21-10-1), Dulin’s Dodgers (10-3), SoCal Renegades (39-6), Tulsa Sandlot (20-3-1) and Frackers Baseball (21-6-1).
“It’s a cool event, hyper competitive,” Mayo said. “Everybody there has been recruited and is there to win.”
The event will begin with two pool play games and then the 12 teams will be seeded and compete in a double-elimination bracket.
The championship game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
Some other East Texans playing in the event are Gilmer’s Dillon Henson and Texarkana Pleasant Grove’s Brenton Clark (Midland Redskins); and Harmony’s Tucker Tittle (Dulin Dodgers).
Notable MLB alumni who played in the Connie Mack World Series are Hank Blalock, Alex Bregman, Ken Griffey Jr., Clayton Kershaw, Corey Kluber, Barry Larkin, Nate Lowe, Max Muncy, Manny Ramirez, Anthony Rizzo and Justin Turner.
