TYLER — Services for Jerry Don Mayo, 75, of Tyler will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Friendly Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Elkins Cemetery in Omen, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Jerry passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, in Tyler. He was born February 21, 1949, in Athens, Texas to Aubrey Clinton Mayo and Margaret Marie (Stanfield) Mayo.
Jerry was a member of Friendly Baptist Church. He graduated from Rusk High School. After attending Tyler Junior College, he started his career as an Ambulance Driver for ETMC, where he met his wife, Teresia. Over the years, he had a few different career changes and retired from TXU/Luminant after 40 years.
As an avid Ranger fan, Jerry enjoyed going to games, and he was ecstatic when they won the World Series. He also loved bowling, spending time with family and friends, naps, and coffee.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Margaret Mayo. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 50 years, Teresia Mayo of Tyler, daughter Stephanie Mayo of Tyler, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Eric Nichols of Greeley, CO, son and daughter-in-law Jonathan and Tayler Mayo of Tyler, grandson Mark Mayo, and his loving dog Bandit; brother Jim Mayo and wife Judy of Henderson, sister Linda Griffin and husband Roy of Streetman, sister-in-law Olivia Duffey and her husband Billy of Dayton, sister-in-law Angela Batie of Tyler, brother-in-law Bobby Smith and wife Patti of Tyler, sister-in-law Debi Heath and husband Donald of Tyler, mother-in-law Stella Crumpler of Tyler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jason Mayo, Randy Reynolds, Adam Batie, Shay Burton, Jacob Duffey, and Clint Griffin.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas.
