FROM STAFF REPORTS

Griffin Archery welcomed the Venturing Crew 369 Tyler chapter to its pro archery shop and range for a fun recruiting archery event May 14. A startup crew from Bullard also joined in on the fun.

The evening kicked off with food and fellowship between the two crews. There was a total of 30 youth and adults in attendance, according to organizers.

“Throughout the evening, games were played and rivalries were born,” Griffin Archery said. “Everyone had a great time getting to know each other and competing to see who the best archer was. They plan to have another event at Griffin Archery in the fall utilizing Griffin Archery’s new outdoor range.”

The Venturing Crew 369 had a blast. Venturing is a new “old” program of the Boy Scouts of America, according to the group. Originally part of the Exploring Division, it finally came into its own in 1998. It has become the fastest growing program of the BSA. Venturing is a fun program full of adventure and challenges for young adults ages 14 to 21. The program helps develop the skills needed for young adults to make ethical choices, acquire leadership skills, and take advantage of opportunities to advance their skills and knowledge in the areas of high adventure, sports, arts, hobbies, religious life, and Sea Scouting. Venturing provides positive experiences to help young adults mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.
