Tornado watch issued for numerous East Texas counties, including Smith

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch through 10 p.m. Wednesday for a number of East Texas counties.

Affected counties include Anderson, Bell, Bosque, Bowie, Burleson, Burnet, Camp, Cass, Collin, Coryell, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Falls, Frannin, Franklin, Freestone, Grayson, Gregg, Hamilton, Harrison, Henderson, Hill, Hood, Hopkins, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Lampasas, Lee, Leon, Limestone, Llano, Marion, McLennan, Milam, Morris, Navarro, Rains, Red River, Robertson, Rockwall, Smith, Somervell, Tarrant, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, Williamson and Wood.

“Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe, are expected to increase Wednesday afternoon and evening over East Texas, Southwest Arkansas, and Southeast Oklahoma, ahead of a weak cold front and associated upper level disturbance,” the NWS said. “Storms are expected to diminish late over northwest Louisiana. Hail, damaging wind and the chance for a tornado or two will all be possible.”
