Organizers Tyler and Kate Bond hosted an event Sunday at Bergfeld Park in Tyler, where bands performed worship music for a crowd.

“[We] just wanted to have an opportunity to allow churches, couple groups… to come up and minister and sing praises for the community,” Tyler said. “I just have a real love for music, love for God and everything like that, a love for my community, and I just wanted to give back.”

Stephanie Fleet, worship leader at First Methodist Chandler, said worship bands from churches of all denominations and cultural backgrounds participated, offering a unique opportunity for people to unite in worship.

The Praise in the Park event offered residents an alternative way to spend their free time safely and reinforced positive beliefs. It also provided an opportunity for churches to reach others and spread the gospel.

“I just want everyone to know that there’s a God out there that loves them, and I hope this serves as an opportunity to spread that message,” Tyler said.
