Winnsboro’s Camden Capehart jetted to gold on Thursday in Austin.
Capehart won the 100 meter dash in the Class 3A UIL State Track & Field Meet at Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium.
Capehart dashed to a clocking of 10.44 seconds. New Diana’s Landon Holly placed ninth at 10.91.
BOYS
White Oak’s Kyler Priest earned the bronze medal with a third-place finish in the boys 3A pole vault. He had a best of 14-0. Maverick Hodges of Paul Pewitt placed fourth with a best of 13-6. Trevor Upton of Maypearl won the event with a 15-3.
Troup’s 3A boys 400 relay team of Noble Kendrick, Caden Claburn, Bryce Wallum and Trae Davis finished third with a time of 41.95. Yoakum (41.81) took home the gold medal.
Gladewater finished fourth, Atlanta sixth and West Rusk seventh in the girls 3A 800 relay. The Gladewater team of Hadassah Balcorta, Jerrica Gilmore, Peyton Hunter and Paytin Thompson finished at 1:42.24. Atlanta’s Skylar Spencer, Toya Hurd, JD Larry and Shamijala Gillam clocked in at 1:43.21, and West Rusk’s Chloe Petty, Isabella Mata, Kamyah Lacy and Lakendra Murphy finished at 1:43.72. Fairfield won the event with a time of 1:40.48.
Trae Davis of Troup went 21-9.75 to finish fifth in the boys 3A long jump. Mason Biehle of Lexington won the gold with a best of 22-6.75.
Sabine’s Samson Black placed sixth in the 3A discus with a best of 160-2. Caden Reagan of Goliad went 174-8 to earn the gold medal.
Pittsburg’s Jaylen Holloway finished eighth at 22.06 in the boys 4A 200 meters. Tyler Brown of Aubrey won the gold at 20.72.
Kason Reed of West Rusk finished seventh (52-1.75) and Samson Black of Sabine was eighth (51-6.25) in the boys 3A shot put. Easton Hatleberg of Grandview had a best of 58-9.75 to earn the gold medal.
Troup’s Jaylon Williams, Caden Claburn, Bryce Wallum and Trae Davis placed eighth in the boys 3A 800 relay with a time of 1:28.09. Hallettsville won the event at 1:26.93.
Hunter Finney of Hughes Springs finished ninth in the boys 3A 3,200 meters with a time of 10:05.70. Holliday’s Noah Strohman finished at 9:22.42 to win the event.
Cayden Tatum of Tatum placed ninth in the boys 3A high jump at 5-10. Kameron Plyler of Vernon won the gold medal with a best of 6-6.
Quitman’s Dakota Jimenez finished fifth in the 800-meter run (1:56.54).
Winona’s Jakai Timmons was fourth in the 400 (49.37).
Winona’s Kason Miles was fourth in the 1600-meter run (4:23.78).
GIRLS
East Texas had a 2-3 finish in the girls 3A 100 meters, with Gladewater’s Peyton Hunter placing second at 11.91 and New Diana’s Starrmia Dixon finishing third at 11.93. Taylor Nunez of Universal City Randolph won the gold with a time of 11.46.
Emory Rains’ Jasey Campbell claimed the bronze in the high jump (5-4).
New Diana’s Starrmia Dixon placed second (24.50) and Gladewater’s Paytin Thompson was third (25.05) in the girls 3A 200 meters. Taylor Nunez of Universal City Randolph won the event at 23.48.
Gladewater’s Jerrica Gilmore, Paytin Thompson, Kyla Lincoln and Peyton Hunter clocked in at 47.48 to place second in the 3A girls 400 relay. Goliad (46.89) won the event, and Atlanta was fourth at 48.50.
Elysian Fields’ Cara Sims brought home the silver medal in the girls 3A 3,200 meters with a time of 11:00.11. Addison Hite of Pilot Point won the event with a 10:57.28 clocking.
Sims also finished fourth in the 3A 1,600 meters with a time of 5:07.33. Sophia Bendet of Universal City Randolph won the event at 4:53.23.
Mount Vernon’s Olivia Baird won the pole vault (12-6) and Emory Rains’ Amanda Rimbey tied for sixth at 11-0.
Daniela Baeza of Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill placed fourth in the girls 3A 800 meters with a clocking of 2:16.97. Sophia Bendet of Universal City Randolph won the event at 2:09.99.
Dixon placed seventh in the 3A girls long jump with a best of 16-11.50. Taylor Nunez of Universal City Randolph won the gold medal at 18-6.25.
Sabine’s Sarah Roberts placed eighth in the girls 3A 400 meters with a time of 59.27. Yierra Flemings of Cameron Yoe won the gold at 54.48.
Troup’s Emory Cover was eighth at 35-6.25 in the girls 3A triple jump. Jayana Phillips of Yoakum won the event at 40-4.25.
Gladewater finished fourth in the 4×200 (Hadassah Balcorta, Jerrica Gilmore, Peyton Hunter, Paytin Thompson) at 1:42.24. Placing seventh at 1:43.72 was West Rusk (Chloe Petty, Cate-Lynn Isabella Mata, Kamyah Lacy, Lakendra Murphy).
