Jacksonville’s Karmelo Clayborne looks to attack against Texas High on Tuesday in the Piney Woods Hoopfest in Lufkin.

There were several standout performers on the hardwood in the area for the 2023-24 high school basketball season.

To highlight those individuals for their efforts, we are announcing the Tyler Morning Telegraph All-Rose Country Boys Basketball Team.

ALL-ROSE COUNTRY BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM

PLAYER OF THE YEAR



Kavian Bryant, Palestine Westwood, freshman: Averaged 29.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.8 steals per game to lead the Panthers to the Class 3A Region III Tournament, which is the first time in program history Westwood advanced four rounds deep into the playoffs. Bryant made 82 3-pointers.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Karmelo Clayborne, Jacksonville, senior: Averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Cameron Kelley, Chapel Hill: Averaged 19.2 points, 14.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game to help Chapel Hill go 30-5 and reach the Class 4A Region III semifinals.

NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR

Isiah Mayfield, Chapel Hill, sophomore: Averaged 17.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.0 block per game to help Chapel Hill go 30-5 and reach the Class 4A Region III semifinals.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Kevin Murray, Bishop Gorman: Murray led Gorman to a 30-5 record and a trip to the TAPPS State Tournament for the first time since 2019.

FIRST TEAM

Ja’Corian Oes, Tyler Legacy, junior: 18.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists.

Jayden Jones, Tyler Legacy, junior: 17.7 points, 3.9 rebounds.

Jak Kinder, Martin’s Mill, junior: 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 153 made 3-pointers.

Derek Hollman, Hawkins, junior: 15.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.5 blocks, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steal.

Cort Reid, LaPoynor, junior: 21.1 points, 4.6 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals, 30 charges taken.

SECOND TEAM

Jaishua Brown, Tyler, junior: 15.1 points, 9.0 rebounds.

Caden Rowe, Van, junior: 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds.

Cole Collinsworth, Lindale, senior: 20.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists.

Beck Langemeier, Brook Hill, junior: 19.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals.

Jackson Tomlin, Tyler HEAT, senior: 17.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 2.5 steals.

Trae Davis, Troup, senior: 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 3.0 assists.
