One person is dead after a Tuesday morning structure fire in north Tyler.

Mynetta Gilstrap, 68, died after being transported to a local hospital following a fire at a home on West Mims Street near the Caldwell Zoo, according to the Tyler Fire Department. The fire call came in around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday.

The initial call indicated flames were visible from the front of the home. Firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly began searching the structure and attacking the fire when they located Gilstrap and a dog who had already died.

Five engines, a ladder truck, a Battalion Chief and an investigator responded to the two-alarm fire. The fire was put out at 10:28 a.m.
