On Tuesday, April 9, Grassroots America’s Liberty Education & Action Meeting will feature author and healthcare specialist Twila Brase with a medical freedom talk titled ‘The Truth About HIPAA, Real ID, and Your Electronic Health Record.’

Brase is president and co-founder of Citizens’ Council for Health Freedom (CCHF), a national patient-centered, privacy-focused, free-market policy organization created in 1998 to protect patient and doctor freedom. She is author of the eight-time award-winning book ‘Big Brother in the Exam Room: The Dangerous Truth About Electronic Health Records.’

Her efforts led to a national law requiring parental consent for research using newborn DNA and a national campaign exposing HIPAA as a data-sharing rule.

The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Convention Center, located on 5701 S. Broadway Ave. in Tyler. There is a $12 fee for a buffet dinner and opens at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The author will offer autographed books for sale.

There is no fee needed to attend, and registration and membership are not required. The group encourages dining to help support local business and jobs.
