RICHMOND TX — Mina Deane (Goodson) Davis passed away peacefully in her sleep in Richmond TX on Tuesday, March 12th 2024. She had been fighting cancer for nearly two years and was ready to find some peace from her struggle.
Mina was born on September 13, 1940 in Jacksonville, TX. She married Gary Corn in 1960 and ultimately moved to Sugarland TX where she raised her two sons. After they divorced in 1977, she worked as a post carrier for most of her professional career until her retirement in 2000.
In 1999, Mina married Norman Davis who became the love of her life. They enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing bingo, and the occasional trip to the casino.
A lifelong music lover, Mina had recently reconnected with the ukulele and enjoyed weekly lessons at the independent living facility where she lived.
Though soft spoken, Mina loved to talk and had a memory that would make an elephant jealous. She could retell stories from her childhood with such detail you felt you were part of the story.
She is preceded in death by parents Frank and Vera Goodson, sister Frankie Hale, brother James Goodson, and her husband Norman Davis; and is survived by her brother Louie Goodson, sister Mavis Axtel, son Kevin Corn and daughter-in-law Dawn Lynn Kilgore Corn, and step-grandson, Tobyn Stary, son Brian Corn and daughter-in-law Catherine Stark-Corn, and grandsons, Taylor and Spencer Corn.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 17th at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville, TX from 6-8PM. Funeral service will be on Monday, March 18th at 10AM. Mina will be laid to rest in Jacksonville TX at Old City Cemetery.
