PALESTINE — Final autopsy results have been released after a Henderson man was found dead in January.
Trenton “Trent” Lee Staneart, 24, of Henderson, was last seen Jan. 20 leaving the Anderson County Jail and was declared a missing person two days later. Officials and community volunteers were searching a wooded area off East Lacy Street in Palestine on Jan. 28 when they discovered a body in a creek, later identified as Staneart, according to the Palestine Police Department. The location is less than a mile from the jail where Staneart was last seen.

Staneart died by drowning, according to a Monday news release from the Palestine Police Department. The cause of death was determined to be accidental, the police department said.
There is no evidence of foul play in the case, according to police.
Toxicology results showed Staneart had consumed marijuana prior to his death, according to the department.
Staneart was arrested on drug possession charges Jan. 12 by the Palestine Police Department and posted bail on the evening of Jan. 20, reportedly over the phone with 1st Stop Bail Bonds of Palestine. When the individual who posted the bond arrived to retrieve Staneart, he was nowhere to be found. His phone, keys and wallet were left at the jail.
According to information shared by the family on multiple social media posts, this individual assisted jail employees with a preliminary search of the immediate area. The family previously said this individual doesn’t appear to have been involved with Staneart’s disappearance.
For days, friends, family and community members joined together to search for Staneart. Friends and family of Staneart canvassed Henderson distributing flyers with photos and contacts, hoping casting a broad net would lead to information. With multiple anonymous calls relaying information that proved to be either false or untimely, his concerned family was pursuing any plausible lead into his whereabouts.
