The Palestine Westwood Panthers

It’s regional tournament time for the boys on the basketball court, and multiple East Texas teams will be trying to punch their ticket to San Antonio for the UIL State Tournament.

Chapel Hill will be in the Class 4A Region III Tournament at Bryan High School.

The No. 15 Bulldogs (30-4) will face No. 5 Houston Washington (26-4) in the second game at 8 p.m. Friday. No. 6 Silsbee (26-9) will take on No. 19 Houston Wheatley (23-6) in the first game at 6 p.m. Friday. The final is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.

Chapel Hill advanced with wins over Bullard (65-61), Huffman Hargrave (57-55) and Spring Hill (88-60). Washington advanced with wins over Taylor (113-57), Jarrell (82-51) and Houston Yates (105-61). Silsbee advanced with wins over Hardin-Jefferson (82-40), Palestine (81-57) and Hamshire-Fannett (71-56). Wheatley advanced with wins over Caldwell (96-67), Waco Robinson (85-57) and Waco La Vega (64-53).

Longview is in the Class 5A Region II Tournament at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.

The No. 17 Lobos (32-4) will face No. 9 The Colony (30-5) at 6 p.m. Friday. No. 1 Lancaster (26-5) will take on No. 8 Frisco Lone Star (32-3) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The final is set for noon Saturday.

Longview advanced with wins over New Caney Porter (79-47), Melissa (47-46) and Crandall (50-49). The Colony advanced with wins over Frisco Memorial (72-55), Dallas Samuell (64-57) and Dallas W.T. White (61-59). Lancaster advanced with wins over Lucas Lovejoy (45-30), Mount Pleasant (53-38) and Nacogdoches (75-52). Lone Star advanced with wins over Frisco Emerson (83-58), Dallas Kimball (61-40) and Dallas South Oak Cliff (54-45).

At the Class 3A Region II Tournament in Prosper, No. 17 Tatum (27-9) will face No. 16 Paradise (26-11) at 6 p.m. Friday. No. 6 Ponder (34-6) will take on No. 4 Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill (35-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The final is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.

Tatum advanced with wins over White Oak (94-23), Redwater (79-38) and Winnsboro (57-29). Paradise advanced with wins over Dallas Life Oak Cliff (56-39), Pottsboro (51-47) and Cedar Hill Trinity Leadership (56-32). Ponder advanced with wins over Duncanville Village Tech (82-29), Gunter (58-30) and Dallas Madison (50-29). Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill advanced with wins over New Boston (83-46), Jefferson (57-36) and Hooks (73-64).

Palestine Westwood will be in the Class 3A Region III Tournament at Waco Midway High School.

The No. 15 Panthers (27-8) will face No. 9 Kountze (34-5) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. No. 1 Hitchcock (31-3) will take on No. 21 Lorena (26-9) at 6 p.m. Friday. The final is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.

Westwood advanced with wins over Troy (64-56), Kemp (86-69) and Palmer (65-52). Kountze advanced with wins over Diboll (107-74), Shepherd (74-52) and Tarkington (71-49). Hitchcock advanced with wins over Coldspring-Oakhurst (69-49), Anahuac (82-30) and Orangefield (66-34). Lorena advanced with wins over Fairfield (53-35), Scurry-Rosser (51-46) and Franklin (45-42).

Athens High School is hosting the Class 2A Region III Tournament.

No. 1 Martin’s Mill (32-4) will face No. 3 Beckville (25-7) at 6 p.m. Friday. No. 13 Shelbyville (26-7) will take on LaPoynor (24-11) at 8 p.m. Friday. The final is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.

Martin’s Mill advanced with wins over Groveton (91-44), Dawson (62-34) and Grapeland (36-25). Beckville advanced with wins over Woden (54-47), Overton (45-42) and San Augustine (66-53). Shelbyville advanced with wins over Chireno (51-44), Douglass (52-43) and Timpson (53-50). LaPoynor advanced with wins over Lovelady (78-51), Marlin (74-65) and Centerville (55-41).

Wells is in the Class 1A Region IV Tournament at the Burger Center in Austin.

The Pirates (22-12) will take on No. 12 Fayetteville (30-4) at 8 p.m. No. 6 Brookeland (28-8) will face No. 14 Rocksprings (26-3) at 6 p.m. The final is set for 8 p.m. Saturday.

Wells advanced with wins over Spurger (62-48), Penelope (56-53) and Oglesby (63-50). Fayetteville advanced with wins over Nordheim (71-37), McMullen County (52-44) and Moulton (45-41). Brookeland advanced with wins over Apple Springs (86-57), Abbott (70-32) and Laneville (65-60). Rocksprings advanced with wins over San Isidro (85-53), Calvert (67-44) and San Perlita (70-56).
