Angela Ruth Dickey
RUSK — Angela Ruth Dickey was born in Rusk, Texas, on January 8, 1939, to Edwin and Margaret Dickey. She went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2024.
Angela’s career as a County Extension Agent in Home Economics spanned 34 years in Angelina, Van Zandt, Morris, Lamar, and Wood Counties. It was never a job for her, she loved sharing her knowledge of the culinary arts and sewing with the adults and children in the Northeast Texas area. She was devoted to the children and young adults involved with 4H, spending countless hours working with them to develop their cooking and sewing skills. This devotion spilled over into her family life through her nephew, nieces, and great nephew and nieces. Each of them has a cherished memory of a cooking or sewing camp at her house each summer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Janie Barber, sister, and Joe Drewry, brother-in-law.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Sarah Drewry and Dixie Acker and husband Donald all of Rusk, and brother-in-law Russell Barber of Jacksonville; nephew Joey Acker and wife Becky of Diboll; nieces, Collie Hagen and husband James Allen of Clear Lake Shores; Leigh Yancey and husband David of Troup; and Cindy Moake and husband Danny Moake of Rusk, with several great nephews and great nieces.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the Rusk Library.
There will be a luncheon memorial at a later date.
