Yosemite Roofing’s first annual Roofers & Woofers calendar features Therapet, an animal-assisted therapy organization that is 100 percent reliant on donations and volunteers. For $20 you can get a desk calendar or a wall calendar for $30.

It’s almost the end of the year which means it’s time to update those calendars. Thanks to a partnership between Yosemite Roofing and Therapet, not only could you have a new 2024 calendar, but your purchase could go toward a good cause.

“I have this amazing marketing team that came up with the idea and I thought it was just tremendous, so I couldn’t wait to do it,” said Josiah Rosebury, owner of Yosemite Roofing.

Yosemite Roofing’s inaugural Roofers & Woofers calendar features Therapet, an animal-assisted therapy organization that is 100 percent reliant on donations and volunteers. For $20, donors can get a desk calendar or a wall calendar for $30.

“We thought it would be a very fun way to participate and give the funds back to a nonprofit organization,” Rosebury said.

The local roofing company reached out to Therapet to collaborate on creating a calendar, using dogs and Yosemite employees — with all proceeds to be donated toward the nonprofit.

“Coming from a nonprofit, you need to jump on things fast because you don’t want to lose that opportunity,” said Therapet Marketing and Development Director Lisa Veatch. “But I just knew that it was going to be a lot of fun.”

Several dogs — plus a cockatoo named Cuddles — posed with employees in accordance with the month.

“The cockatoo is the one that cracked me up the most,” Veatch said. “She got car sick before (she arrived at the shoot), so she has to get out and get herself all straight.”

Cuddles was partnered up with a Yosemite employee dressed as a pirate.

“He’s very dynamic and… it was just fun watching him do what he needed to do to make the photo shoot work,” Veatch said.

“All of our guys are super fun and they just roll with the punches,” Rosebury said. “Everybody here has a servant’s heart and so they were ready to jump on board and take these photos and we can’t wait to see the production.”

Since 2019, Yosemite Roofing has served all across East Texas with both residential and commercial roofing services.

“My roofing company is a professional customer service company that installs all sorts of different aspects of roofs, from commercial to residential, from standing scene, clay tile, slate tile all the way down to your everyday shingle roof system,” Rosebury said.

For almost 30 years, Therapet has provided a therapeutic approach to facilitate healing and rehabilitation for those with special needs or patients in need of treatments. They also volunteer in public schools, whether it is helping with the special education program or assisting students with reading.

“We’re just like an occupational therapist, a speech therapist and a physical therapist,” Veatch said. “The difference is that we’re not paid and we’re all volunteers.”

Currently, Therapet has 100 volunteers, 65 dogs, three cats and a cockatoo, and they’re always looking for more.

“We are serving in some capacity in healing, hope and motivation to get the patient up and at them moving flexibly back at home,” Veatch said.

Growing up on a farm, Rosebury knows the comfort an animal can bring.

“I feel like there’s a lot of peace that comes with being around animals and how they just have this blessing of love to them,” he said. “And I think that’s what dogs give us. It’s no coincidence that dog is God spelled backwards and the love that dogs give people and the attention that they give us with wanting nothing back, I think is very special.”

To order a calendar, email kriercomedia@gmail.com or visit Yosemite’s Facebook page. If you do not purchase a calendar, you can go to Therapet’s website and donate directly.

“This is just such a marvelous win,” Veatch said. “It’s a win for everyone… it introduces us to Yosemite and they have the capacity to learn a little bit more about what we do. We are so grateful for their partnership. It really helps to build relationships in the community and help us get more for what we need.”
