Paige Gilmore hit for 19 points and Kat Neal added 14 as the Grace Community Lady Cougars defeated the Pine Tree Lady Pirates, 53-43, on Monday at Grace Community School in Tyler.

The Lady Cougars bouned out to a 21-11 first quarter lead, but the Lady Pirates got back into the game pulling within 38-37 entering the fourth period.

Grace outscored Pine Tree 15-6 in the final quarter for the victory.

Others scoring for Grace (3-1) were Hannah Stout (7), Kalynn Giffin (3), Harper Auringer (2), Macie Mathis (4), Macy Loftis (2) and Kate Glenney (2).

Scoring for Pine Tree (1-1) were Aaliyah Oliver (12), Trinity Huey (9), Ewoma Ugbini (7), Ashton Molina (6), Njari Williams (4), Laria Bates (2), Alauryn Morgan (2) and Alaysha Horton (1).

The Lady Cougars visit Apple Springs on Tuesday.
